Just checked Alex Fletcher's age (18). He is 6 days older than George Hirst.

George Hirst - 6'3"

Alex Fletcher - 5'10"

Nuff said.

The genes have it!

I live up in Yorkshire my owls supporting mate said he would be ideal for us before there was even a hint of speculation
For me only risk is yorkshire lad first time away from.home could be to far for him to settle at 18

By the way my uncle who is a massive owls fan told me David Hirst would play for England when they signed him from Barnsley at 18 I laughed at the time but he was of course right and indeed looked the better prospect ahead of Shearer before his injury troubles ! Lad may benefit being away from Owls to develop as it's a big cross to bear being Hirstys son at S6 !!

I remember watching Hirst, he was a really great striker screwed by injury, if this lad has half his ability, sign him on please.

Looking likely to go to Rotherham- not that they need to sign another forward.

Sheffield Star are reporting that Sheffield Wednesday will reject a second bid from Leicester City for forward George Hirst. Not sure this is a realistic target for us.

The Mail reported a couple f days ago that the Owls had turned down a bid for Hirst from Leicester for a million. Apparently valued at £2,000,000.

Might just be a tad out of our league.......

No one's suggesting we buy him!

These multi-million pound fees for teenagers don't necessarily reflect their current playing ability. They are based on potential for the big clubs to invest for the future - either getting a first team regular of the future, or someone they will sell on for a big profit.
