The BBC Sport Football website carries a very good piece of editorial about de Boer's departure. It would appear there was more to his dismissal than the sheer lack of points and goals. It made the decision more acceptable, as far as I was concerned. I will still surprised that 84% of an opinion poll on the issue felt that the dismissal was premature.
Having said that I am by no means sure that Roy Hodgson is their answer, but at least there is no need to pay compensation to a club for an already contracted manager.
