Our home and away support in League One is very impressive considering we've been in the bottom four for most of the season.

Our average home support for the eight games played so far is 8,802 which is the eighth highest in League One.

Our average away support is 855, which is the seventh highest in League One. This is especially good because we've clocked up a total of 4,655 miles on the road for the nine away games with six of those a round of trip of over 550 miles each.
The highest away attendance in League One so far is 3,829 Rotherham fans at Doncaster.

On the flip side we have the least amount of visiting opposition fans at home in League One with an average of 324 away fans coming to Home Park, this will obviously increase after the home games against Portsmouth, Bristol Rovers, Oxford and probably Blackburn Rovers but without away fans boosting our crowds it shows how impressive our home attendances currently are.

Excluding fans, we’ve actually got the fifth highest home attendance in the league then. The Charlton and Scunthorpe attendances showed the potential for support if we were competitive in this league. Shame.

Bradford show the value of giving fans cheap season tickets...head and shoulders above any other team in this division for home attendances...despite bigger teams in the vicinity.Maybe next season Argyle could follow suit.....

They expect about 5,500 for next month's cup game.

Very interesting stats there Ian.
I wonder what the away fans table would look like if you incorporate the number of miles travelled per supporter? Surely we would be in the top three.

If we excluded fans, then everyone would have the same attendance, surely?

Apologies. I can't resist an open goal.

I'd like to see ballpark figures of doing things their way, vs the usual way. They get more in the gates, does this equate to more revenue? (Both in ticket sales over the season, and in match day revenue) Is it more profitable in the end? Or just more people?

To be fair, he said exclude "fans". If we did that, we'd still have a good number that just go along to gripe and moan.

Are you suggesting the sh1tty are a bigger team in the vicinity ?!

Argyle have a captive audience and reducing season ticket prices could actually reduce overll revenue unless there is the same percentage increase in the crowd.
This will simply not a happen I'm afraid to say

Impossible to calculate I'm afraid. Many away Argyle fans take advantage of when the team are playing in the region that they live in and others travel even further from the depths of Cornwall so it's not just a matter of multiplying everything by the number of miles from Plymouth.

The one thing it does show though is that there aren't that many supporters of other L1 clubs that live within 50 miles of Home Park who could boost away support down here.

If Argyle made tickets half price and put 4-5,000 on the gate, what would be the point? Loss of revenue and extra costs of stewarding and policing to consider.

I personally believe the kids for a quid idea is the best route. On top of that, give out free tickets to classrooms across Plymouth, the wider Devon/Cornwall area even, let classmates come and sit together and have a laugh at Home Park. As they get older, they might just get hooked. Keep investing in the next generations of greens than letting the seats go unused.
