Five players sent off in England yesterday.

Bournemouth won 4-0
Shrewsbury won 2-1
Gillingham won 1-0
Chesterfield won 1-0
Argyle lost 4-0

Having a player sent off should not mean an automatic defeat.

I agree. We seem utterly dependant on numbers in order to contain teams. If you go a man down it shouldn't be end of story. I've seen us win games with 10 men before, but not under Adams. It's also tactics. We went deeper again. You have to play in the opponents half a bit more and must have the confidence to do so. It also comes down heavily on this argument on quality or lack of. We have a short supply of it, so when we are depleted in numbers the chances of avoiding a drubbing are slim. Hence the Scunthorpe, Oxford 0-4s. etc Argyle have to just get as many points on the board as possible this year then have the spend they can't keep denying themselves on quality in January. That's if they are to have any chance whatsoever of staying up. They are punching way below their weight on quality for a city this size in Division 1. Carey apart.

Wow that is shocking and four home games against Oxford in that time have also seen us down to 10! Should have put the mortgage on an Argyle red card yesterday

Time of sending off and score at that time

Bournemouth 45+4th minute. 2-0 up.
Shrewsbury 53rd minute. 1-0 up.
Gillingham 72nd minute. 1-0 up.
Chesterfield 90th minute. 1-0 up.
Argyle 14th minute. 0-0, but facing a penalty.

Yes, having a player sent off should not mean an automatic defeat, but those are terrible examples.

Truro went down to 10 men after 27 minutes yesterday, scored in the 38th minute, Hungerford also went down to 10 but it was in the 87th minute. Truro beat them 1-0 away from home.

Going down to 10 is a tricky obstacle to overcome but that is all it is; an obstacle. You can still win a game with 10, teams have even won games with 9 in the past.

Yesterday was an injustice I felt. To be hit with a penalty and a red was cruel and against the rules now. Thing is that doesn't completely exonerate Adams from blame, we were competitive after the red, perhaps even the better team so it could have been done. The figures speak for themselves though Adams does not know how to handle the sudden change of a red card. Thing is you can't stop it from ever happening; you're going to pick up cards and you have to adapt, it's situational management.

Depends what time the sending off took place, yesterday after 15 minutes...fatal.

Now if in the last 10 minutes not always so much of a problem.

We like going for the early bath...hence nil points seem to be the norm.

Going down to 10 is not an automatic loss, but going down to 10 men after 15 minutes and having a penalty scored as a result is a pretty tough ask.

But the current manager has a 100% failure record in even drawing a game after a red card.

Not good enough.

How does he compare to other managers? What are the stats?

I haven't kept a record but it does strike me that a number of our sendings-off this term have been relatively early.

If Oxford had lost a player instead of us I wonder how many goals we would have scored?
