1) Starting place for Taylor with Songo'o surprisingly dropped to the bench. Threlkeld continues his rehabilitation on the bench. Ciftci, Sarcevic and Fletcher left out. (Oldham bound?) Lameiras also omitted in favour of Blissett.

2) Apart from the first 5 minutes where Gillingham won a couple pof corners and threatened the Argyle goal, Argyle probably had the better of the first half. Taylor showed what we had been missing by making us play 30-40m up the pitch. He brought other players into the game and won a number of threatening free-kicks.

3) Roos had a reasonable first half but fumbled the ball once or twice, once almost conceding but scrambling back to prevent the ball from fully crossing the line. Sawyer struggled with his winger and it took a couple of interceptions from Fox to prevent the cross reaching its target.

4) Diagouraga had a good first half, enjoying the extra space Taylor created for him. Grant and Jervis also looked more threatening but Carey ran into a number of blind alleys and gave the ball away far too easily. In fact Gillingham's best chances came on the break from us giving the ball away in the edge of our area.

5) Argyle started the second sloppily but quickly grabbed control and won a couple of quick corners. Then it happened, a ball flicked on by Taylor fell to Grant who ticked it inside the post with the Gillingham defence all over the place.

6) Argyle now fell into the trap and started dropping deep. We hit Gillingham on the counter and couple of times. Once Carey took too long to pass then Grant cut in and shot just over. On another counter attack, Jervis was bundled over but the ref saw nothing in it. Later Jervis was clearly held but still nothing.

7) Argyle rode their luck a bit and it needed some fresh legs with 25 minutes to go. Carey was especially careless and we gave away possession far too easily. We were also conceding too many corners. With 20 to go Adams replaced Grant with Songo'o with Carey moving out wide left.

8 ) The pressure eventually told. A shove on Edwards was not given and the Gillingham forward had acres of space to pick his spot and drive/lob over the advancing Roos. With the crowd angrily calling for fouls and Adams to sort things out, Carey was fouled, the ref ignored it and Carey got to his feet and found Diagouraga who turned and scored.

9) We were playing with confidence and looked good going forwards. Adams thought safety first and brought on the defensive minded Songo'o for a forward, we sat back and got caught. Sounds familiar? The crowd started to call for Adams head. Diagouraga just may have saved Adams' Argyle career.

A negative sub resulting in an oppostion goal.

Rescued by midfielder, Adams be more positive for everybodys sake.

Thanks for that.

Great summary there Mark, thank you.

Spot on about Toums saving his skin but we need to go into Jan out of bottom four and then have the best transfer window trading ever to stay in this division.

So if we'd drawn he would have been given the boot you think?

Real anti-Adams feeling in the crowd before the winner today. If Diagouraga hadn't scored the chants st the end would have been VERY different.

A very poor game of football, played by two very poor teams.

Don't get me wrong, it was a fantastic result, but there was very little quality on show.

Appreciate that, but relegation dogfights and relegation six pointers like today, are rarely pretty.

We need to slog ourselves out of this mess first, and build more progressively from there.

So are you happy to be where we are?

A bit more positive play, bin the single man up front, and stop being happy at one goal up and go for the throat of teams.

In all the years Argyle have never truly mastered the single one up front.

Terrible start to the season.

However we are improving. We are playing better. Ww are winning games. We are closing on, and now overhauling, our rivals. The trend is positive.

Adams in!

Roos on Diagouraga’s goal: It is an unbelievable goal but to be honest I didn’t know the time of the goal because I couldn’t see a scoreboard anywhere. To be honest, I prefer that.
