A few League 1 Stats to give us hope (or not) that may (or may not) be of interest given our current situation ….

Four teams in the last 20 years that were in the top half on Christmas Day were relegated that season. Notts County are the worst example of a freefall team plunging from 7th to 21st in 2014-15 season.

The survival rate for teams in the relegation zone at Christmas is a remarkable 42% over the last 10 years.

Last season three teams survived (Shrewsbury, Oldham & Bury) and similarly in 2013/14 season three of the four teams in the relegation zone on Christmas day escaped the drop – over the last four seasons survival rate is 56%.

In 2015/ 2016 season Barnsley went from the relegation zone on Christmas day to make the play-offs in May AND promoted !!

Nice one moles. Anything could happen, its football after all! The tanker is turning, if they carry on win one lose one mid table is within easy reach for a start.
