Police intelligence-Oxymoron?

There were many protests at the mayhem outside the big steps at the end of the game, caused by the police blocking off this exit. After doing the circular route I asked a senior officer why there were so many police, cars and any number off dogs creating a very tense atmosphere, particularly frightening for youngsters.

he said there were reports of a planned bit of naughtiness by thirty Newport supporters. If the reports were true, did it need 40+ policemen! a dozen dogs! and a huge escort up the A38 with three police cars and four outriders, plus surveillance cars on two flyovers? This wasn't a derby, and we have no previous experience of trouble with Newport supporters.

Does Argyle pick up the tab for all this I wonder?

I should add I'm not anti police, two of my best mates are ex officers, but this all looked way over the top.

I was surprised there were so many.

What happens when you play Exeter and Luton!?

Can anyone explain why D@C had that level of policing for 300 away fans? When at Northampton and Wimbledon there seem to be minimal policing for 700 and 900 away fans?

Ever since the 2010 JPT game against Exeter when the police massively fudged up their numbers they seem to have erred of the side of caution when a so called local or big fixture comes along.

Not sure of the percentage of overall costs but in general the answer is yes bud. What pis**s me off is why the clubs and pubs of loony street or Mutley plain don't get hammered for policing all their hassel. :furious:

I believe but not 100% sure, Argyle pick up the tab for inside the ground but not outside.

I have to disagree. Newport are well known for trouble. Have been for years in the lower leagues. They had a number of fans looking for trouble the 1st season they came down here. Trouble before and after the game. Then you no you attract the rain coat brigade on a boiling hot sunny day when there's a wiff of trouble.

If it kicks off everyone says where are the police? Why went they there. If they turn up to prevent it their scaring children. What a load of rubbish. I never seen any issue today. Didn't see any kids to frightened to move. Honestly moaning for no reason. Football must have been alright I suppose. Gota go home and kick the cat for some reason.
