Police bill for last night

I am wondering what the police bill for last night was .I was at Plymouth station at app 23.30 waiting for the London overnight, when I am saying at least 70 riot police escorted about 70 of Exeter's finest on to a special train which ran to Exeter at short notice .It was like a scene from a G8 Summit .That doesn't come cheap .Mind you after what happened 5 years ago the police obviously do not want to make the same mistake twice .

The police bill is paid from the proceeds of the match before each club gets its 45%, no idea what the bill will be.
I thought the whole cast of Green Street or the Football Factory had turned up last night, only Danny Dyer was missing.

I've copied the response from an earlier QA & A which covers it fully. A question was asked about the clubs financial obligation. The club pays for the officers who are utilised inside the ground hence why stewards are the preferred first line of defense. The remainder that are patrolling externally are primarily for public protection and not part of the bill. :scarf:

Zackly. Doesn't impact the club much at all.

I would however, were I a tax payer in Devon or Cornwall, be pretty miffed with knobbers of Plymouth and the knobbers of Exeter for existing though.

Well done everyone for not getting uppity last night about the 'knobbers sideshow antics' and consequent requirement for the old bill. After the reaction post Pompey, Newport and Brizzle I predicted yet another point missing hissy fit that, i'm pleased to see, never came. We're learning.

We HAVE to get used to this sort of thing sadly. If we're destined to ultimatley make it back to our 'traditional natural level' then the knobbers will only crawl back out from under their rocks more frequently and more aggressively.

The time to get all indignant about the old bill being there is when they're there for games like Barnet and Crawley. They tailor their response to the likely issues and so far they've got it right each time.

Millwall would bring one man and a dog down to the Westcountry for a JP trophy game. They are hardly a well supported team at the best of times.

In the press and the BBC coverage they mention the helicopter being used. I didn't see or hear one, perhaps the weather stopped it flying but the journalists just printed the Police press release about their policing of the match anyway.

I disagree with you on this Clarke.
I've got one living on my housing estate, and he keeps me informed of their comings and goings!

Policing Home Park would be easier and cheaper if the away fans section was down the other end.

I remember seeing Millwall in an associate members cup game(semifinal I think) at Home Park many moons ago, which Millwall won 1.0.Only about 50 hardcore Millwall fans on the overnight train back to London but they were given their own coach with many coppers for company .That was the sort of Reputation Millwall had in the eighties .The club have done a lot to clean up their act but their reputation still precedes them .

Whatever it was, it was probably worth the cost.

Since Argyle fans seem to have a thing of waiting outside the Devonport for the Exeter fans, I don't think I'd like to imagine what would happen if police weren't in between the two groups.

On the "Drive" show on Talksport last night Adrian Durham reported that there was (allegedly) fighting in the streets outside the Peterborough ground last Saturday during the game against Millwall. Turns out some people like to travel with Millwall but are not interested in going to the game. http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news ... -1-6993905

Millwall have never been a problem down here, why I'm not sure but I can't remember a single incident from that club at Home Park.
