Watching the football league show last night there seem to have been an awful lot of penalties. Refs being more lenient/punishing yesterday or just a coincedence.

In contrast to last week where our ref could and probably should have awarded a few and didn't

Gets no easier for the refs does it, e.g. Slew's play acting after the pen was awarded, and Carey having a dose of the Alessandras; all very Pompeyesque.

Penalties - and red cards - tend to spoil games, the fewer the better.

If you want fewer penalties and lesser red cards. This will only happen when players learn the art of defending and tackling correctly. The more physical teams that lack pace and movement are always going to be prone to conceiving them

When we in the championship we played Derby at home in league and cup and I am sure we got two penalties in both games. If not, were 2 in 1 and 1 in t'other. We won't mention Wotton'S conversion attempt at Pride Park though.
