Just saw this and set me wondering who this might be for us?

"The National Football Museum are working with Tony Brown (ENFA) to try and identify the oldest living Football League player. This may be an impossible task but we will try! The attached list shows most of the possible candidates so basically do you know of any ex FL player who played at least one first team game for your club and was born before Ivor Broadis (18.12.1922)?

One for Memory Man I think :)

Wasn't he the oldest living Argyle player even when he was still playing? ;)

Let it go Paul, you're still bitter. :scarf:

How about Gordon Astall. He will be 90 in September. He was last heard of living in Torquay. He played in our promotion winning team in 1951-52 under the captaincy of the legendary Jack Chisholm. He was transferred to Birmingham in 1953 and played in the Cup Final when they were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City and their German born goalkeeper Bert Trautmann broke his neck but played on to the final whistle. Gordon Astall was capped twice by England in 1956 and scored one goal.

I wasn't there for his Venables save. Can you sense how disappointed I am that I missed that?

Not an Argyle player, but Boscastle boy Dudley Kernick, born in 1921 and still going strong, played for Birmingham City, Exeter, Torquay and others during his career.

I would imagine he has since died but didn't our then, oldest ex player take part in the centenary parade? Managed to run the length of the Lyndy to chants of sign him on from the Devonport IIRC
