I cannot believe the attendance given on the official Argyle site for the Newport game - 13,971!!!!

Yes 13,971 the ground had minimal segregation and looked pretty damn FULL from the Grandstand, there must be some mistake.

Are they saying that the capacity for Home Park is now around the 14,500 mark?

Newport didn't sell out by a long way plus the front rows of BP between the zoo and the segregation were netted off.

Yes - I appreciate that - but the capacity at Home Park is 19,500 (i believe) and what you say would not account for some 4,500 seats, excluding the minimal segregation. :)

The capacity was 19500 when the Mayflower Terrace was open - its less than 16000 now I think.

The capacity of Home Park is given as 16,388. Allowing for the 1,600 away fan allocation this gives a maximum home capacity of 14,788.
The number of Argyle fans on Monday was 13,694.
There are seats in the middle of the Lower Grandstand not sold since the Liverpool game, also some seats of the Grandstand and Barn Park End had black netting on them so not used plus there were quite a few empty seats in Blocks 18 and 19, so the attendance looked about right.

I was surprised at how low the attendance was.

The Herald may not have helped by a very slightly misleading headline about online tickets being sold out (when there were still tickets available from the office). But it raises questions about why Argyle didn't try to sell all of their remaining tickets on-line ahead of the match- surely sell as many as they can shift ?
