Obviously before my time but I've enjoyed reading stories about him on here. Club legend.

Such a great player and I was around during those seasons in the early sixties to witness the great man , I think his feat will never be beaten at Argyle unfortunately.
Does anyone know when his funeral is, the late Johnny Williams funeral was in Plymouth church which I went to and if Wilf's is in Plymouth as well I want to go to it.
RIP Wilf a true legend.

I think it is likely to be Bath which is where the great man has lived since the late 60s
His son has said he will let me know and I will post details if not in press.

Wilf Carter was my boyhood hero when he came to Argyle. To this day, I can still remember those 5 goals he scored against Charlton in 1960, on the day after Boxing Day, in the 6-4 win at Home Park.

His partnership with Jimmy Gauld was also a great memory. Gauld would get the ball and then run straight into the penalty area, and many a time would get fouled, and up would step Wilf and slot the penalty home!

A proper goal scorer - only Tommy Tynan came anywhere near him.

RIP
