Sadly just missed seeing Wilf play for Argyle, but remember my dear Dad talking about him constantly.

Definitely an Argyle Legend

RIP Wilf

Exactly the same here.I had enough respect for my fathers opinion to know that he was speaking the truth when he said that Wilf was up there in the Mariner/Tynan class when it came to Argyle strikers.True legend, with the record and longevity to back up that status.RIP Wilf.

My first Argyle hero when I was at primary school with his daughter Helen. Wilf's not been mentioned much in the modern era, but actually had a better scoring record than King Tommy !

I heard Wilf Carter was a great player. One of the very best to play for the club.

I understand that the 1950s team was one of the best Argyle teams of all time. That team is within living memory of many fans still. My dad spoke really highly of them.

Does he have a mural ?

Ahead of Tommy Tynan IMO . Such a great goal scorer, I can just remember he was arrested for being drunk I think on a Friday night and he played the next day and I think he scored 1 or 2 and boy did he get an ovation, anybody else remember that, he was a real character, condolences to his family :nworthy:

If he doesn't he should have

One of the greatest goal scoring legends, would score from anywhere and has already been mentioned his goal scoring tally is only second to Sammy Black.

RIP
