I see in the Herald today that Peter Bloom has passed away after an illness. He was the chairman who stood down to vice chair so that Dan McCauley could become chairman. I seem to recall we had a thread on here last year(?) about his property having a compulsory purchase order on it because of the tungsten mining at Hemerdon. It couldn't have been easy on him.

RIP Pilgrim.

Sorry to hear this.

Peter was Argyle chairman when I first started supporting the club, and I always remember my Dad moaning about him not putting enough money into the club (football fans never change!).

Peter Bloom made a few quid locally but was never going to be the kind of owner who would be able to buy us a place in the top flight. In all fairness to him he did eventually recognise this. After a year or two bemoaning poor gates at Home Park, and with Barclays about to call in the club's overdraft, he put the club up for sale. Enter Dan McCauley...

RIP Peter Bloom. Thanks for keeping our club going through tough times.

Yes a good man who I met a couple of times. Not a hugely wealthy man but served the club as best he could. I think he had the old Louis International clothes shop if my memory of my teenage years is correct and I think there was a barbers called Jaycee or similar close by which I used sometimes if in town on a Saturday. RIP
