In the 80's I used to travel from Cornwall for home games he spoke at HP asking me what's the score going to be, if I was correct he would give me 50p I wasn't good but true to his word got the Bristol City score correct and he paid up.

Only met him a couple of times, but a true gentleman who cared for the club and wasn't in it for the profit to be had. One of the old school of chairmen, now look at the Premiershite and football league chairmen. Argo were never his plaything, some good and bad times during his tenure, but may he rest in peace, he will always have my respect

His business was John Conways in Cornwall street, he was a true gent, I worked in an adjacent shop for a while and used to get 10% discount, fond memories R.I.P.
