He was a massively underrated player. So much of the football played by Peter Shilton's 'Nearly Men' passed through Nugent as the attacking fulcrum. Whenever I watch the 1993-94 season review video it amazes me to recall that people would go to games and make donkey noises when the ball went to him. I suppose it was because a lot of people just can't cope with the idea of a centre-forward who doesn't score loads of goals (although from memory I think he scored about 12 that season which isn't too shabby).
