Mistakes happen in a season. It will be full of ifs, buts and maybes.
Defensive errors, lack of goals and lack of tactical nous affects all teams during the year.
The blame game is not helpful to individual players or management , except the blatantly obvious.

I really feel for Danny Mayor and Conor Grant, CG in particular because Port Vale are such a good club and it seemed a great fit.

This time last year they were celebrating an incredible promotion, now they've both been relegated and I'm sure watching on as we possibly go down too... how quickly things change in football (n)

Seeing how the ex players of the title winning side of last season have not fared too well, it highlights just what a fantastic achievement last season was.
Probably a mix of excellent coaching, recruiting the right profile of players for specific roles, strong team camaraderie, great club culture etc. We clearly were much more than the sum of our parts last year.

We would be in relegation places without those minute goals we scored to win games... so many poor excuses for why we are where we are.
No one result earlier in the season can be the direct reason for being where we are.
It may have gone unnoticed but this is a 46 game season.
Agreed, those minute goals helped, but we scored some pretty big goals too 🙂

It's about synergy; the combination of players and staff created an outcome that was greater than the sum of its parts. It doesn't happen often tbh, and if we achieve a similar effect again then hats off.

Better refereeing at times might of helped...especially the atrocious Coventry goal...an elasticated goal line kept the ball in play.

Southampton does it for me.

The officiating in the championship this season has been appalling

Not much better in the Premiership to be fair. Every week of watching Motd brings home the poor standard of officials on and OFF the pitch. Var is shown to be just as bad more often than not because of the officials overseeing it. Usually gutless officiating and taking the easy option more often than not. The Spurs game another such example.

I don't watch Scottish Football tbh. But the Premier League refereeing has been a shoddy at times.
