Is it just me? Am I out of step on here?

I have been reading The Herald and the main discussion board and feeling that I am out of step.

On GoS there is a recording of our manager post match. He is happy!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Herald is all upbeat.

The discussion threads are all about how well we played.

There is even a poll about who was the man of the match - like there is every match.

WE EFFING LOST!

IJN has just auctioned off a copy of the book about last season signed by the manager. Great money raising by Ian - but why does the book exist?

Last season we were the first LOSERS Every Pompey fan I work with likes pointing that out - They WON last season - not us.

Every Saturday that we lose ruins my weekend. I just don't get this "The best team lost" crap. If you don't win YOU ARE NOT THE BEST TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time for a beer.

It is not a question of being out of step, you like ALL supporters of ALL teams, just do not like their team to lose period!
You are someone who shows his emotions much more than the average fan.
If this defeat was the last game of the season and we are being relegated then it would be time to scream.
This was the first game away in a higher division with half a new team and it ended in a one goal loss.
Not the result that we wanted but will suck it up and go onto the next game.
We will know exactly what kind of team we have after ten games and also if management has learnt that the team is 2 goal scorers short not one.
At this level we have guys that can get you maybe 7-9goals but 15/20 is what wins most of the time.
Can we afford one never mind two remains to be seen.
I for one do not think that we have the capacity to attract sufficient talent at the present time so it will be a case of hold what we can.
50 points should be the goal and anything above that will be gravy :

A loss always brings out the flighty types

Your anguish is no greater than anyone else AG, in that regard you're not out of step with anyone.

Where you differ is how you react to it. It hurts just the same but most push pragmatism to the fore to a greater or lesser degree. If you do that you can see positives where pitchfork waving reactionaries can't.

I am 66 years old, I am in my 54th season of actually watching Argyle play 'live'.
If I shared your angst I would neither be 66yo nor in my 54th spectating year.
I'd be in the great terrace (Sit down, St Peter!!) in the sky!
I learnt to relax about it until THE games that really matter
Chill mate . you'll live longer

Shouldn't that have been "Time for another beer"? :)

For the record, I witnessed that loss yesterday. However, even though I was unhappy with the defeat I still saw the positives that bodes well for the future.

an over reaction by the O.P. to put it mildly.argyle will have to "grow" into this division and with the brilliant manager we have i am certain we will.the incident for the second goal is a bitter pill but in the bottom division last year sonny would have dealt with the ball before the "professional" push on him.next time sonny will find row Z.hang on,be patient.i think we will have a good season.

Interesting post.

If Argyle losing ruined my weekend then l would constantly over the years be very depressed. Sure, when they win it makes it all the better but l'm afraid this is part and parcel of supporting a lower league football club.

That's why Plymouth has so many "plastics". They can't support a team that isn't winning most Saturday's. It's a sad case of affairs but this is just the way it is. People love to support something that's a winner and love to boast & gloat over social media.

Supporting Argyle, isn't and probably will never be like that. Financially, we are another world apart from obtaining premier league status. We can dream. It's what supporting Argyle is all about. Living in hope. Yet the reality and expectation is that your supporting a team that will do well to have a season avoiding any flirtation with the bottom four. Results this season will probably see us receive more defeats than victories.

Last season some fans claimed we finished joint top. Basically they couldn't accept we lost the league title on goal difference. It was hard for some to say we came 2nd to Pompey. We have some fans who just can not and will not accept other clubs in the same league can be better than Argyle. It's a stubborn mindset that actually makes them believe they can invent a new reality, e.g. Saying Argyle finished joint top of league two. The league title was displayed and presented at Fratton Park. That is the reality.

Our objective was promotion. We achieved this. That was something to celebrate. That is why a book and a DVD of that season exists.

In every league only one team can come top. However, l would suggest not all are losers just because they don't finish first. To support Argyle you have to enjoy the whole experience. Winning and losing. There is something refreshing when Argyle has success. Partly because it hardly every happens. However, l think the feeling Argyle fans get when we are successful is more rewarding than a plastic premier league fan would ever feel.

Point of order MGM, we were NEVER behind Pompey.

The moment that final whistle went at Grimsby season 2016/17 was over we were immediately ahead of them alphabetically in L1.

That's not a "new reality", that's a fact

So ... what position were Blackpool in on that day?
