OK, I think it's about time!
Most cars have now been launched, testing is about to start, and the first race in Melbourne is just a month away.
As we're stuck with the halos, I'm very relieved to see that they're not looking half as offensive now that the teams have been able to incorporate them into their aerodynamic and livery designs.
For the sake of the spectacle, and for poor Fernando Alonso who's made one catastrophic career choice after another, let's hope that McLaren really will be podium contenders again this year.
Let's hope too that Ferrari and Red Bull, if not others besides, will be able to offer a genuine and sustained challenge to Mercedes' hegemony, which for all its many admirable qualities has become a bit tiresome - just as did the total dominance of Red Bull prior to this phase, and of Ferrari not so many years before that.
