I'm hoping England get hammered now so (hopefully) big changes can be made.

Bernie Bernbaum wrote: Agreed. Who are the replacements though? Not sure County cricket as it stands is up to scratch. The England set up has seen too much emphasis on the white ball game as well. Root hasn't won a test against Australia in 7 attempts so far. Time to take the captaincy off him? Tactically very poor and he can concentrate on his batting again. At 4 of course. Never replaced Cook, Strauss, Pieterson and the rest. Oh well Ashes gone.

Sibley, Crawley, Pope? At this rate, open with Banton! There are options out there but they are young and it'll be a risk but is it any worse than this?

I'd take the captaincy off Root and give it to Buttler, just let Root concentrate on his batting.

Where’s a Boycott when you need him?

Ok but Buttler isn't a test batsman.

Jeez, went to bed at lunch, after Australia took six wkts, thought England might possibly struggle to somewhere near the Aussie score.
To wake up this morning, England all out for 60 odd runs, unbelievable!! Salt into the wounds Australia now have a lead of 280 with 4 wkts in hand.
Watching the highlights, the fielding and dropped catches started to resemble a comedy reel!
Fair do's, the Australian bowlers were absolutely brilliant.
All without Steve Smith and hasn't his replacement Labuschagne batted well.

Good article BB, pretty much nails it.
Good fight back by England, batting with much more patience. Evenly balanced with England slight favourites. So much time left, just play a patient Test innings.

England slight favourites! You cannot be serious! Seeking a record score. The batting line up is weak, a collapse always round the corner, oz have excellent attack and the new ball in 10 overs. 1 in 10 chance I would say.
