What a ridiculous game of cricket. The sheer chutzpah of Stokes to go after the bowling in the final hour was breathtaking. Eight sixes!

I was at Headingley in 2001 when Mark Butcher's 173* beat the great Australia side of Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Hayden and the Waugh brothers. I thought no England side would ever top that, but Stokes blew it out of the water.

Ashes now finely balanced, looking forward to the next two Tests.

Oh, wonder if we will hear from Balham :D

Well as you insist! It was the most incredible turnaround with one of the greatest ever test innings and a lot of luck. Only time England were favourites was with 2 to win and even then they should have lost it. Twice!

Agreed about the luck, and England had it in spades, but hey, that's the beauty of the game.

And Australia missed loads of chances too. It wasn't "bad luck" that they reviewed that LBW where the ball pitched miles outside leg, or that Lyon flipped over up the run out.

And so it begins. Australia won the toss and bat, 1/1, Warner out.
