There was talk earlier on of doing one race in reverse - not reverse gear! - but it was soon realised that all the safety features such as run-offs and barriers were set up for the traditional direction and couldn't be changed (where they could even be changed at all) without incurring huge costs in time and money.

Hmm, reverse gear...

There’s a video doing the rounds on a chap who had driven all circuits in reverse on the PlayStation game. Apparently the only ones which really work are Spa and Spain. Catalunya especially good with a long downhill left with a chicane at the bottom to end the lap.

I'll try to look it up!

Well, it seems that Alonso may indeed be on his way back to Renault after all this time. That should be fun to watch if it happens.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/52682505

I keep forgetting because there's been no racing and it feels like an extended close season, but of course these changes will be taking place next year, not this. For instance, Vettel has to race the entire season (whatever we end up with) knowing that Ferrari don't want him and that he's already been kicked off his perch by the young pretender. I wonder if that will take all the pressure off and allow him to race much more freely? Or... will he think "To hell with the consequences - I'll be gone next year" and race Leclerc so hard to try to prove a point that he regularly takes them both out?

And... what if the car turns out to be brilliant and Vettel wins the world championship?!

I would love Vettel to win the championship, a big middle finger to them like Damond Hill did to Williams.

Except that Vettel would use that infuriating, slightly crooked index finger...

Yeah, that finger thing is infuriating, but I can forgive that if he makes Ferrari look daft. They have this belief that they have the right to win because of their name so watching their downfall is a bit like seeing Wycombe loose to a 7th minute injury time goal.

As for Alonso, running back to Renault again when things aren’t going his way. The Triple Crown has realistically eluded him so mummy Renault will make it all better, like when he burned his bridges at McLaren.

I bet you already know my thoughts about Alonso when he was at Ferrari. :-)

Oh dear indeed. Even worse, tweets today about Rich Energy getting involved at Williams. After their refusal to pay the sponsorship fees to Haas because of their lack of podiums, any deal is likely to end in disaster.

I read today that Claire Williams is confident that the team name will remain because any prospective buyer will be sure to recognise the value of the brand. I wonder if she's living in yesterday's world?

Time to bump this one back up the forum.

With the extended break, the update packages will be a few steps further down the line than that expected at Australia, so who knows what will happen. Ferrari are reported to have changed their vision of where to go with the car and without having any race data to go on, will they pull the rabbit out of the hat? Being Ferrari, I doubt it. Verstappen seems quite confident about his red bull.

With a possibility of a shortened season, hopefully a few drivers will throw caution to the wind as a win will mean more that usual points wise. Vettel’s last chance at a championship, Max fancies his first, Hamilton could break records and Charlie Clarke is secretly a ruthless bugger. Can’t wait!

Karma for Red Bull.

After grassing up LH to teacher, engine failure for Verstappen.

Love it!
In the beginning the Universe was created. This had made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
