Thanks to the moderators for permitting these music threads. I think we can all see that those taking part have enjoyed doing so and the interactions have been 100% positive. That’s music for you
Anyway, I promise this is my last one folks.
This is as the title suggests, about the gig you could have gone to but didn’t and have regretted it ever since. It doesn’t necessarily have to be because the gig turned out to be awesome, as you will see from mine. Anyway here goes:-
Back in the early 70's I had two tickets to go and see Slade at the Flamingo Ballroom., which to those who don’t know, is between Camborne and Redruth. Back in the day it hosted some fairly big names, which was pretty incredible as it was really just a decent sized dancehall.
Slade were at the top of their game at the time, but for whatever reason I decided I didn’t want to go. Now my girlfriend at the time, a very attractive blonde (but I digress) was VERY disappointed at this turn of events and I told her she could still go and take a mate. So I gave her the tickets and thought no more of it. I think I stayed at home listening to Radio Luxembourg or something like that!
Anyway, turns out that the mate she took was one of my mates and you can probably guess the rest. Things did get a bit ugly between me and my 'mate' and I’m sad to say there may have been a split lip involved. Still in the end I married a proper Cornish 'maid' and had twenty odd happy years.
I still wish I’d gone to the Slade gig though
