Absolutely incredible!
More like scenes from a third world country. A failed state.

"The United States of America has been attacked by the President of the United States of America."

Yep, this is another step to dystopia in a world that already felt like it. Can’t stop watching the news now, it’s astonishing.

This is what happens when you embrace fake news, conspiracy theories, the far right and a nutjob president to further your political goals. How can any Republican look themselves in the mirror for supporting Trump and his fraud claims?

And how does the US come back from this? Do we just get this every election, from now on? The distrust, hate, and misinformation is just too far gone now.

Incredible and unbelievable - but entirely predictable. The worst kept secret in the world was that Trump would whistle up his nutters to try to stop the official electoral college ballot count. So why the f**k weren't there enough police/ military ready to stop this rag-tag mini-militia? Where was the great show of force and tear gas Trump deployed against unarmed protesters OUTSIDE the White House just so he could have a photo-op waving his bible next to a church???

Shocking. Really shocking. However, I think this is his last desperate 'hurrah' that will seal his place in History as the despotic ogre he is. Even close former allies are attacking him now and I cannot imagine more than a small minority of even people who voted for him will not be appalled by this. Various Republicans even close allies who have worked with him are condemning this - many calling it cowardice. A few minutes ago it was revealed it was Pence not Trump who (eventually) called in the National guard.
Smarter people than I have been total idiots - and I've met them all.

I think everyone watching, and hearing the National Guard are on their way, must have thought well where the hell are they then ? They must have taken a couple of hours to respond by which time the mob could have burnt the place down.

Trump threatened this over a week ago so why weren't they prepared ? The whole thing is surreal. Surely the US must learn from this and, as in this country, hand over the reins of power the day after the election result, rather than allow so much power remain in the hands of an out of control megalomaniac for a further three months.

It looked like the entire population of Redneckville, Alabama had descended onto the Hill.

Maybe a lot of them had to leave the protest to go home and put their uniforms on, before heading back there??

Possibly because Trump has to call in National Guard himself?

Biden answered that question...they weren't black! Had they been so, as with the BLM march a few weeks back, the Capitol would have been swarming with the Army.

Quinny - not according to the reports from the Governer of Maryland. According to him, it was a Maryland Republican Senator who telephoned him, while they were in the bunker. The Governer stated that he had "hundreds of troops" ready to mobilise immediately but it was the Chain of Command that refused to authorise it.
There is no argument to equal a happy smile!

One thing's for sure: Trump was completely out of the loop on the deployment of the National Guard, but of course that didn't prevent him from lying about "immediately" sending them in.

It is looking increasingly certain that there were active decisions in the DoD in the previous days to keep the Capitol as lightly defended as possible - which goes a long way to explaining all those mysterious Pentagon appointments that some of us were wondering about a few weeks back. It seems that some factions inside government, and not just Trump himself, really were hoping that the Capitol would be completely overrun and the election result tossed out, with Trump then installed as a full-on dictator.

And there's more to come, with all 50 state capitols, plus DC, set to be besieged by proper armed factions - let's call them what they are: illegal revolutionary militias - on the 17th, and on the 20th itself.

Jump onto Twitter and search the hashtag #noflylist

Domestic terrorists getting what's coming to them and complaining about being penalised for storming the Capitol.

My personal favourite is one chap being pinned down by police complaining he's being treated like a black person. Says it all about this lot!

This is just, well, brilliant. The geeky lot here would find this thread hilarious, but - long story short - all of the security authentications for Parler was made available, so admin accounts were created which didn't need any authorisation. The hackers could also see who were the existing admin accounts ... so they changed those passwords. And then, as the existing Parler administrators were locked out, the hackers downloaded all of the Parler data (about 70TB) - files, video clips, the lot.

But it wasn't just the hackers who got hold of this information - so did the FBI, so now the FBI knows who is on Parler, who is talking to who, what they've said, where they are and *who they are*. How did they know this? Because part of the authentication process for Parler was a picture of that user's driving license.

This is how the FBI managed to get info about a credible threat of an attack on Inauguration Day, and why so many people have suddenly been added to their "no fly" list.
