As far as I’m aware taking the knee is to show support with and to black players and others from ethnic minorities who continue to suffer racist abuse. I’m not aware it is a symbol of support for the BLM organisation or any political movement. Something has to be done about the scourge of racism in the game and beyond. The knee is a small gesture but it seems to matter to the players. Try though I do, I can’t think of a decent reason to oppose it. For the record, I’m not remotely left wing and have never voted for a left or centre left party. I don’t associate my views on equality and fairness with any political perspective.
Good on you Corazzin for starting this thread. It’s an interesting debate and I’ve enjoyed reading the thoughts of both sides. It’s a pity some want to shut down the conversation with accusations and labelling but there you go, it’s a slice of life on here after all and I hope it won’t prevent you from expressing thoughts and raising questions in future. I suspect not.
I don’t mind either way about the names of our stands or nickname. I don’t find it important. My passion for Argyle comes from the decades of live experience, the friendships, the travel, highs/lows the reflections on the emotional journey and the hope about what is to come. I feel no particular connection to what appears a tentative link to an historic event, which, as has been mentioned, was a 60’s marketing ploy anyway. The city has such rich history, it seems a pity to blinker ourselves to what else is on offer but if we stick to what we have, then so be it. Fear of change is a real thing for many

There is no difference between calling someone coloured or bame, both are labels that differentiate people because of the colour of their skin. Time to drop the labels and start referring to everyone just as people.
