Agreed. It’s frustrating that despite their dwindling circulation, en masse the tabloids can still sway opinions.

I don't normally follow such things but it's been impossible to avoid this one, which I think could have pretty seismic repercussions, including in wider British society.

Maybe it will be the American colonists' final revenge on mad King George III: [dramatic pause...] to bring down the monarchy itself!

And when you take a step back and think, we're looking up to people because they're related to someone who won a scrap in a field 1,000 years ago, its just insane.

However, for the privileged, titled and rich to maintain the status quo they have to keep the forelock tugging masses in check, so the right wing non tax paying billionaires living abroad, who own most the press, perpetuate the con.

I think the question should be WHY have they done it? Seems to me to be a petty attempt to fling some mud. Why can't they just get on with their lives? Neither of them wanted to immerse themselves in the Royal way of life and they have now got what they wanted so just get on with it. To me, they come across as a spiteful and spoilt couple that are stamping their feet because things didn't actually pan out as they wanted them to. I saw someone refer to Markle as Meagain Markle which does seem to be the case. It is all about her and Harry is definitely her lapdog.

Neither of them wanted to immerse themselves in the Royal way of life and they have now got what they wanted so just get on with it.

Meghan admitted she was naive in underestimating what was expected of her, but she was willing do what was expected of her. Unfortunately - for the Royal Family machine - she refused to compromise or conform, and that's what caused a lot of friction to the point where she felt totally isolated. Harry knew what was expected of him but put his wife before duty. And his opinion is tainted by what happened to his mother: being expected as a 12yo to walk behind the coffin of your dead mum before the eyes of millions of people would phuq up the heads of most children, I'd have thought...

No, what came across was the opinion of a couple who honoured their promise about waiting a full year after stepping back from public service. They made it clear that, normal dysfunctional family issues aside, they had no axe to grind with anyone (with the possible exception of William), but they had a massive issue with the Royal machine.

All this interview has done (apart from in the eyes of Daily Mail and Express readers) is that it has exposed how further out of touch with modern life the Royal Family is (maybe they'll be dragged into the 20th Century) ... and that in the 40 years since Diana entered the Mob, absolutely nothing has changed.

And Harry bemoans being cut off financially. Hell yeah, if you're not working for the firm, any firm, why would they pay you?

It's just so stage-managed - including the latest black and white publicity photo it immediately arouses suspicion that this is playing to an audience.

TBH the only thing that bothers me is the reported comments on the baby's skin colour. Ignorance or intent - neither is acceptable in an institution like that, anywhere in fact - if of course the claims can be substantiated.

Oh and I do wonder how his 99 year-old grandfather who is recovering from a heart condition is dealing with it ....

I'm going to opt for, they did it because it was a nice earner and like Harry has said about the Netflix thing, he needs to provide security for his family or did they do Oprah for free?

Lets not also forget that this is just one side of things. It always amazes me how quick people are to assume that everything that comes out of their mouths is true. They couldn't even agree on when the question was raised about the skin colour of any child they had. Harry seemed to think it was even before they got married, a couple of months into their dating even, yet Meghan reckons it was while she was pregnant

It seems that the skin colour matter is the real seismic event, and is probably making it trickier for the usual tabloid suspects to let rip as intensely as I'm sure they're dying to.

Harry was at pains to stress that it wasn't Queenie or Phil who came out with that stuff, so by implication that pretty much leaves Charles, doesn't it? That's surely the conclusion that will be drawn, at any rate. Whatever the truth, I don't think we'll see him as king now - boo hoo.
