I see no problem in a family discussing the colour or other matters like height genes in future children in a mixed race marriage. My white daughter has a brown husband and we all speculated on these subjects. The kids' colour varied from white to light brown and the 2 boys got the height genes .I know many friends in similar circumstances who had the same discussions.

The issue here is the use of the word ' concerns" in the interview which puts whole new perspective on it. Its very easy to be offended you are looking for it and that word has sparked a media feeding frenzy. Possibly it was deliberate move to whip up sympathy. Your guess is as good as mine.

I agree that context is everything, and I'm sure that there are plenty of conversations within mixed-race families up and down the country over a cup of coffee in the morning about such matters: innocent speculation is a normal trait. I'm sure if the Royal in question had this conversation with Meghan then this probably wouldn't be an issue (assuming that the interest was innocent and was nothing more than genuine curiosity), but this conversation was with Harry - and he came away from it troubled enough to discuss it with his wife.

Spot on. IMO blown out of all proportion.
Oprah staged the interview and deliberately asked questions to fuel the fire.

And a fine catch he'd be. I mean, how often do we hear him referred to as the biggest anchor on British TV?

Well a complete ship does require a big anchor...
