Harry was at pains to stress that it wasn't Queenie or Phil who came out with that stuff, so by implication that pretty much leaves Charles, doesn't it? That's surely the conclusion that will be drawn, at any rate. Whatever the truth, I don't think we'll see him as king now - boo hoo.

(And yeah, I'm wondering why I'm typing all this, too!)

Ditto...I really couldn't give a monkeys toss about Markle, Harry or the monarchy so am actually disappointed in myself for wasting what little time I have on the planet getting wrapped up in their narcissism . Gonna stop and let the carousel carry on without me. With you on this one MickyD

My money is on William, not Charles. Meghan talked about that person's reputation would be severely damaged if they were named: Chuck's reputation is already tarnished because of what happened with Diana and his long-term affair with Camilla and he wouldn't be a popular Monarch when Lizzy finally shuffles off this mortal coil. But William and Kate are well regarded, and if it was him how said it...

My thoughts exactly. I'd wondered for years if Chuck would ever be king, thanks to the Diana/Camilla legacy and generally not being terrribly well liked, and I think this will seal the deal to skip a generation to William.

Enough already, dammit!!!!

I have a life-long disinterest in all matters royal. However one BBC report got my attention. I’m sure I heard Nicholas Wichall say ‘Downing Street is being kept informed’. Anyone know why? Surely there are no constitutional issues here, or am I missing something?

I think that we all know, however disinterested and uninterested we may be, that the royal family (or does it have to be the Royal Family as a proper noun?) are still absurdly and disproportionately important to the psyche of this post-colonial 21st century country of ours. So naturally "Downing Street is being kept informed", because that's exactly what everyone who cares about all these goings-on would expect to hear.

It's important matters of state, don't you know. And don't forget all those native uprisings that must be quashed. (And oh, I say, my chum's just invented a corking wheeze of a game that he calls whiff-whaff!)

Anyway... it's truly an ill wind that blows no-one any good, eh?

Piers Morgan leaves ITV's Good Morning Britain after row over Meghan remarks

ITV announced the decision after Ofcom said it was investigating his comments after receiving 41,000 complaints.

'Which-of-the-arses-actually-said-it?' .....is the fun bit in all this :D

.... Are the bookies quoting odds yet?

Chas must be favourite but too obvious for me. My money is on that charmer Andy but dopey Eddy (who everyone forgets) must be in the frame ....and Camilla could be a decent long shot if the odds are good enough.

What a cliff-hanger!

We're all hanging off that same cliff! So, how many alcoholic units were imbibed tonight to pompt that post?

I suspect that, after 41k complaints and undoubtedly pressure from advertisers, Piers was "offered" the chance to resign, rather than the ignominy of being fired.

That being said, what are the odds of Piers signing a contract to work on Andrew Neil's GB News in the next fortnight?

The timing is indeed propitious - a big-name knobhead to draw in the viewers. (I suspect that there'll be a very high knobhead quotient on that particular channel.)

Knob-head indeed, but the annoying thing is that he draws in punters like a moth to a flame, so he’ll be signed up elsewhere very soon. I’ve never watched the programme, but good to see the other guy call him out and force him off.

He'd obviously previously been offered, and knew he was walking straight out of Good Morning Britain into his new job this morning. The more drama the bigger the PR for the launch.

The thought of a Fox News style channel in the UK headed up by Piers Morgan makes me feel physically sick.
