"...... how can the western world unite to punish the bear?"

Perhaps their great leader needs to be driven by a drunk from a Paris hotel through a nearby tunnel?

What could the headline be, I wonder??

'Putin on The Ritz'?? :coat:

I was wondering why, Trump was concerned about the ‘health’ of Ghislaine Maxwell last night.

Then I thought, there is talk, that she will turn ‘states evidence’, for a reduced sentence, which means she will disclose well known names, who were ‘clients’, of Epstein.

So, he is trying to get on her best side, wonder why ????.

Also, he has been trying to influence the New York South , DA, department, by sacking DA’s he don’t like.

It's following the depressingly familiar pattern, isn't it?

Speaking of which, the deployment of totally unidentified, heavily armed militia, first seen in DC a few weeks ago, has spread to Portland, with the added extras of full-face gas masks so they can't be identified at all, and the dragging of peaceful protesters off the streets and into unmarked cars and vans. Trump has threatened to do the same in Chicago and NYC, which he said with a straight face is "worse than Afghanistan". What some of us have been warning about all along is happening right before our eyes: America is turning into a dictatorship, and if Trump somehow manages to cheat his way into a second term, that really will be that.

On on that matter... he's now come out and said it: he'll "wait and see" whether he deigns to accept the result of the November election and, even more seriously in a way, his cronies are jumping on board with that too, performing the tried and tested switcheroo of taking legitimate and very serious criticisms of Trump's and their own actions (in this case voter suppression and election fraud), turning them around and pretending that it's really the other side who are guilty of all the shenanigans - just as they did with the fake news jibe, which originated to describe genuine fake news (excuse the oxymoron) of the kind peddled by Trump, Fox News and the rest.

I am just praying that Sarah Cooper will add this to her hilarious lip-synch repertoire. Maybe it's just too much of an open goal, though.

THAT is just brilliant ..... beyond parody .....breath-taking .... If we can just get over over the frankly pants-filling scary idea of him being the most powerful man on planet Earth..........I must admit there is a very naughty part of me that wants him re-elected just for these moments of comedy gold.

That one is right up there - not quite with the 'injecting bleach' press conference standard of a few months ago (the squirming expert supporting act made that unbeatable) - but Ricky Gervais might as well retire now. Nothing he dreams up can come close. Brilliant stuff.
Smarter people than I have been total idiots - and I've met them all.

Back to more serious stuff, and some good news in that at least one of Trump's Bill Barr-enabled blatant acts of spite and corruption is to be frustrated.

Ex-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen's jailing 'was retaliation' for book

Cohen will be out by tomorrow (released from solitary confinement, incidentally!), and with any luck free to finish his book, which it must be hoped will be even more damaging than the John Bolton and Mary Trump shockers - and even closer to the election, too.

It will be sweetly ironic if Cohen, the obnoxious rottweiler who helped Trump get elected by threatening and effectively bribing various parties to keep schtum about Trump four years ago, now helps get him thrown out on his arse with a perfectly timed tell-all book that covers exactly that period and much else besides..

Two of my great fears (two of the more recent ones, anyway), closely related and previously outlined here, are now playing out.

1. Trump stooge and mega-donor Louis DeJoy became the new postmaster general about six weeks ago, and now there are countless stories emerging of USPS deliveries being seriously delayed as staff levels and overtime are cut.

2. He's finally come out and said it. Trump has asked in a tweet, all innocent, like, whether the November election should, well, maybe be delayed because, you know, mail-in votes lead to gigantic fraud (a total lie, in case it needs saying), and mail-in votes are set to soar way beyond previous levels thanks to Covid - assuming that the ballot papers ever arrive in the first place, of course.

We ain't seen nothing yet.

Edited to update: Lordy Lordy, even Trump's usual lickspittles are coming out strongly against a delay. Let's be thankful for small mercies.

Just watched his latest press conference.

It was a mumbling, bumbling most incoherent mess of a conference.

Basically saying, he is going a good job, in coping with the pandemic. Saying Australia, Japan, and Israel are worse off than the great USA

And he wants to delay the election, basically because, he won’t win it.

What a total disgrace of the worst leader the world has ever seen.

Federal agencies in Portland request lifting of safety first for members of the press legislation. Could this be to stop the nature of the violence being played out throughout the USofA as to who is the perpetrators and who is the victims?

Now, if only there were some lesson from history we can glean from what’s happening here and now!!!

Louie Goober Gohmert tests positive for Covid 19 and blames having to wear a mask and takes up his bosses regime of hydrochloroquine as treatment.

I sincerely hope Jim Jordan has been enjoying the kind of company of his fellow congressman in the manner he denied knowledge of from his college coaching days and really suffers.
