Heard the news as I was converting my Rush CDs to my phone memory.

Not just rock, one of the best drummers. Period.

Since his death I've gone back through some live performances on You Tube and his drumming is just incredible - the different time signatures and fills is amazing, Big Money is a very good example. Plus his amazing story telling through his lyrics.
The big big sound just three musicians get fills arenas and stadiums, a great band.

The Vikings 1958 (I was 7)
Spartacus (1960) (I was 9)

Now, I don't know how old I actually was when I saw those films (State Cinema, St. Budo) but to say I came out infused with The Magic of Hollywood would be an understatement!!

Thank you for those hours of escape from a mundane life, Mr Douglas! Top man! :nworthy:

Luckily I was born in 1951, a year after he made the magnificent: Young Man with a Horn!!

Harry Gregg.

Exactly 62 years and 10 days after the day he might well have died.
He 'saved' Matt Busby and Bobby Charlton.
Whole lives and the lives of so many others swing on such 'random events'.

I am sure he was never the same man again.

RIP Harry, RIP.

Many events have been dubbed: 'The Death of Music Hall' over the years.

The death of Roy Hudd may really be just that.

Funny man and a good straight actor when given the chance.
RIP Roy.

And at the diametrically opposed end of the spectrum: Genesis P. Orridge, 70, of leukaemia.

He was really good friends with my younger brother, and I used to know him myself (and we babysat his daughter Caresse once) when he lived in Brighton with then-wife Paula.

(I should have said s/he and they - pandrogyny, and all that.)
