I think the problem with us remainers Oldage, is that we are so certain that brexit is bad news for the UK in every way, that every step of the process looks bad. I’m afraid it will stay that way until a brexiteer gives us one single, coherent, logical reason why brexit will benefit the UK.

We shall see but even you must now appreciate that there is no turning back. I still think there is a chance of a deal but either way the clock is ticking down and what will be,will be.

Also representing 27 individual countries can also be considered a weakness in negotiating an agreement because u have to please all 27 whereas the uk just has to please 1.

From what I've read it seems Japan was more interested in giving us a good deal to attack the EU, so I'll give you that one as a plus.

However, until we've got a decent deal with the likes of China, USA etc I'm not going to start jumping for joy.

I think most remainers are praying they were wrong, whereas leavers quite the opposite.

Yes I did read it a few days ago but like I take reports in the daily express and telegraph with a pinch of salt due to them painting everything as rosy so I took that report with the same salt as they will paint it as bad as they can.
My own view point on the Japan deal is that much of it will just be copy and paste from the EU deal hence it was done so quick. However there is two important things behind it the first is the financial services part of the agreement which the EU dont currently have. Align this with China choosing London as there centre for europe over paris and frankfurt, combined with London being in talks with Zurich for the agreement that the EU rejected and withdrew passporting for switzerland then you have london having agreement with three of the top five.
The second important thing is the future agreement for the cross pacific agreement that we have been invited to join. Having an agreement with Japan makes this easier. I can see agreements in principle for the other big three within this agreement happening before the end of the year.
It was stated about agreement with the USA. Well Biden wont undo Trumps growling but will put USA first like trumps catchphrase the difference will be that he can kick ya with a smile instead of a growl. He can do it easily by saying you want us to undo such and such okay but we want. Anyway to the point. Biden wants back in the ccp and will prioritise that over europe, one of the reasons Trump pulled out was because it harmed the usa farming community and there having to raise the standards. The agreement is now in force and makes it harder for the usa to join however should they agree and uk is within the pact it will be agreement with usa via the backdoor
