Sheridan needs to see this opportunity to get Laird on loan, such a reliable LWB could sign him permanently at end of season and would relish to return home back where he belongs! Also he knows what it takes to get promoted! Sign him up!!⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Are you his dad? Or his best mate? Or his football coach when he was a kid? Although we are stretched to Kellett and Mellor at LWB while Purrington is injured, we don't really need him.

Kellett is on loan though, Mellor is he right sided? Just thinking of having players who have already experienced promotion from this league is worth a punt

This.

There are instances in which a player returning is positive (e.g. Wotton, Reid, Luke) but the fact is there are a ton of players like Scott Laird around, and the only reason he's been mentioned on here is because he's an ex player.

I disagree. He's had 200 plus league appearances, including 70 odd in the league above, is a good age, plus he's from the south west.

Kellet is a good player for us but he's not ours for the long term.

When he was here before we were in the championship, a much tougher prospect breaking into the team as a youngster.

What's not to like about this if there is any truth it?

Is it like this at other clubs? It's as if we're only allowed to sign former players.

I wonder if it has something to do with the location issue, you have to have experienced the south west to consider returning sort of thing. Northerners just see the problems ie distance, former players have experienced it down here so they know what a great place to live it is (the south west, Plymouth is a bit well you know  )

Thanks Emu, at least someone agrees! It's not just about signing ex players it's about finding the right ones that suit our club. We are at a disadvantage regarding our position on the map so attracting decent players will naturally be more difficult. Why wouldn't he want to come back? dropping down a league maybe? But for how long will we be in this league? Hopefully only for this season.

For some reason he isn't? I think if Sheridan put in a loan offer with a permanent contract offer at the of season he may well surprise himself! This is the club where it all began for him. sheridan could quite easily ask the opinion of Reuben, Wotton and Luke who all know him very well
