And looks like he’s joining Bradford, so we’ll not see him next season.

Not exactly any loyalty shown to Morecambe imo

Given the modest financial resources of Morecambe, perhaps he has taken the view he has got them as far as he can. Bradford offers greater opportunity and have a bigger following. If DA has gone at least Argyle could possibly consider the acquisition of their match winning young Gomez, without incurring the wrath of Derek!

Or he knows his level.

A short term league two promotion specialist and no more.

History has shown that players/boards can only stomach his methods for so long.

Or perhaps he’s learnt there’s no loyalty in football management, move on when you’re on a roll!

Not a surprise given the number of reports linking him to Bradford in recent weeks. Always a risk stepping down a level to join a bigger club, has always happened at all levels of the game though, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

To be fair I think on paper it's a good fit. Bradford offer him much more potential and if his aim is to manage in the Championship then more of a chance of getting there. And for Bradford they are getting a manager with two promotions in the last five years from the division they are in. Be interesting to see how it goes.

The disloyalty thing is a bit harsh.

If you'd told Morecambe fans he'd be there for two seasons and get them promoted to League One, they'd have probably given him the keys to the town.

He's left them in an incredible position.

I seem to remember one of his acolytes on here saying he had been offered the Bradford job shortly after agreeing to take over at Morecambe, so this has probably been in the pipeline for a while.

No matter how things ended at Argyle, you can't deny that Adams has done an absolutely phenomenal job at Morecambe. They'll be sore he's left them but surely none of their fans would hold it against him... Bradford are a far bigger club and Morecambe have already hit their ceiling.

Maybe he has been loyal. I imagine he could have gone to Bradford sometime ago, so perhaps he’s fulfilled his commitment to Morecambe, got them promoted and put them at a level they could only have dreamed of up until recently. Bradford is a big club and I imagine he will be hoping to have a good project there. They should be in the Championship really.

Quite a few managers have failed at Bradford, it won’t be easy to get them up, and if he doesn’t it’ll definitely damage his stock, whereas if he stayed at Morecambe his stock would be higher and he’d have very little pressure on him next season. To be honest I’d have thought he’d be able to secure himself a L1 job this summer or early next season.

I see why he’s gone to Bradford, a bigger budget and club, but I certainly don’t think it’s a no brainer, it is a gamble.

I seem to recall that after he had accepted the Morecombe job but before they signed a contract he was offered the Hearts job but turned them down as he had given his word....

So claims of disloyalty seem a little rich, especially as we don't know the circumstances.....if Morecombe get compensation he was under contract...if they don't he wasn't and so could do as he pleases...commitment goes both ways

Managers move on, they also get fired....so I have no issue with someone taking what is clearly a job that has a higher budget....although be interesting to see how many players he takes with him....for a manager who apparently can't be stomached for long by players he has a lot of people that play for him on a regular basis...

Great opportunity for someone with the Shrimps though.... a season in League 1 with zero expectations.....fingers crossed it goes to someone young and upcoming and not the parade of grizzled veterans that turn up for this kind of gig

I am not sure that he will go to Bradford City. I’ve always thought that he would have a long career in football management.
It was the right decision for him to leave Argyle and he has left Morecambe while his profile is high.
If he returns to League 2 now, I still feel sure that, at some time in the future, he will manage a Championship club, at least.
Frank Lampard was told by other EPL managers, “You’re not a manager until you’ve been sacked”.

He's loyal when it benefits him.

His methods may not be to everyone's liking but at least it gets results. A pity he has decided to leave because it would have been interesting to see if he had learned anything from his previous stint in the division.
