Reading Capello's comments it appears that Rio Ferdinand as vice-captain will be the new captain, with the 3rd choice captain moving up to the vice captain's role.

Why are people saying he's been "sacked" He hasn't lost his job, he's just been removed from the (mostly symbolic) role of captain of a team he plays less than 15 times a year.

Lets just hope Ferdinand can get himself fully fit rather than injured every so often otherwise Mr Capello will be having to make another change.
