Well worth a listen on Iplayer if you missed it tonight.

Unbelievable arrogance from the Premier League bloke:-

We don't care who owns clubs as long as they bring in lots of money - 'we are ownership neutral'

Chelsea and Man City held up as models of ownership having owners rich enough to write of 100s of millions of debt. Both clubs were in dire straits before two if the richest individuals in the world bailed them out. So this is the only way you can compete in this competitive and sustainable league?

Bundes League was rubbished because they haven't got the best players in the world in their league. Having full house and average ticket prices of £14 which includes travel counts for nothing. Who cares about the fans that go to matches as long as people from Japan watch your league above theirs.

Oh and Pompey will get their £13M the same as every team that goes down (let them have a £13M start over those clubs that don't overspend)

That £13million will, assuming that a fair and proper administrator is appointed to Pompey and not this dodgy-sounding Andronikou fellow, be used to pay the debts to the various outstanding creditors: assuming Portsmouth would be in a position to actually sign players, they'll be freebies playing for roughly the same amount of peanuts we currently offer.

And the tragic thing is that nothing will change. Portsmouth will survive, probably get back into the PL with their nice new debt of zero...

Am I the only one who can't see this future for Portsmouth? Firstly, the Premier League has only one interest: that a team does not go bust while in the Premiership. Once they're relegated to the Championship - bugger them. They'd be replaced by the likes of Newcastle or teams like Leicester with Premiership-quality stadia, not that shabby Fratton Park rubbish.

Assuming the administration is confirmed by the courts, Pompey will HAVE to enter into a CVA to exit administration - and given that the HMRC are challenging them entering administration and questioning the impartiality of Andronikou, it is very unlikely the HMRC are going to agree to a CVA, meaning a further massive points reduction.

Entering administration isn't meant to be an easy way to wipe the slate clean of all debts: it is meant to be the very last choice before a club is liquidated. It isn't meant to be taken lightly, even if it is deemed so by the press and certain chairmen. It is more likely that Pompey will be fighting to stay in the Championship this time next season, rather than knocking on the doors of the Premier League.
