Talking about Southend v West Ham. Talks ongoing about transfer embargo (they need it lifted to sign 14 players). He's looking quite healthy and fresh. He's confident that Southend will be 'there or thereabouts' at the end of the season.

Yesterday was to stave off administration in a case with HMRC in which they reached a deal. I think Southend were then hoping to have the embargo lifted after showing this to the FA. The club still has to fight a winding-up order from Charterhouse Commercial Finance Plc on 11 August :eek: . If the embargo isn't lifted they will struggle on saturday as their team comprises of triallists and not many squad players (less than eight).

Heard their chairman on the radio today saying that all the club debts had been paid. I'm sure I heard the figure of £350,000 mentioned. I'm assuming that includes the debts to Charterhouse Commercial Finance Plc too.
