Yes, but, he's been naive to the extreme, he's allowed the situation to spiral out of control & his decision to 'go on hols' at this period in Argyle's history has severed any links & respect he had with the fans.

You book a holiday well in advance sometimes and someone like Stapleton, with all his professional involvements, would have a very busy calendar. The man is entitled to go on holiday with his family. It's ridiculous to suggest otherwise; he isn't a criminal and he deserves a personal life away from "work". If I'd booked a holiday with my family and, due to work, I had to cancel it or not go, my missus would probably castrate me with a rusty spoon.

This whole issue is pathetic and it's been blown out of all proportion yet again by internet warriors who seem to have over-inflated morals.

Well, coincidentally I found myself spending the day at the Royal Meridien yesterday, in my standard beach attire of Argyle shirt, massive towel and discreet camera. Unless he was disguised as a large Russian gentleman or thin female Russian woman, he didn't go in the sea yesterday either. If that helps.
The only way is up. Or down.

Don't you think the situation we are in highlights the madness which pervades football nowadays. Like, I expect many on this site, I have been trying to explain our current predicament to people who don't normally follow football but have heard about us on the news. Their bewildered reaction when I tell them we have a number of players earning more than the prime minister, playing in the 3rd tier of English football in front of 7,000 people, drives it home to me what a complete nonsense it is. Stapleton and his board's sin was to get drawn into this madness, you have to say encouraged by a large number of Pasotiites. Not me, I can genuinely claim, to me it is no coincidence our success was achieved as a financially well run club. Our lack of playing success goes hand in hand with loss of financial control.
I think taking a holiday at this time is insensitive but I understand they have the internet and, I believe, telephones, in Dubai.

To say that Stapleton and "his " board (interesting way of putting it ) were encouraged bye a large number of Pasotiites is .. well a bit silly really . No way were they influenced like that .

I seem to recall the term "Staplewallet" appearing now and then.

Lowey Sponsor, Auction Winner

But it wasn't all a bed of roses back then as people seem to indicate now.

Under Pulis I am sure at one point our only senior strikers were Trigger & Chadders with Pericard later joining on loan. We operated with a much smaller squad then too, but, we certainly had more quality in it.

So Stapleton saw that word/name and decided to spend too much to stop the word appearing ? no . We had a very good team and we sold it for a lot of money (by our standards) so the opposite appears to be the case . I think it was Pulis who said the Stapleton that we would have to pay higher wages . Not sure so perhaps someone can confirm this .

I agree with you completely Stapleton and "his board" are responsible. The point I'm making is that people who wanted him to spend a couple of years ago should go easy on the criticism now.

Could it have been possible that he was already in the sea when you arrived and stayed in it most of the day to make up for his lack of going into to the sea since his vacation started. And therefore you simply missed him on this occasion?

The staff are unpaid it is the most critical time period in 125 years of history and he is off on a luxury jolly . Its only 11 weeks until the end of the season . It could have been postponed .

That's all true, off course, but the damage was done by handing out these huge contracts we can't afford.

The time for 'investment' was as soon after the last promotion as possible and certainly when the likes of Pulis & Holloway were at the club. The trouble was that Stapleton and his pals did not want to lose control and why should potential investors buy in when it would be their money being used ? Stapleton and co. wouldn't consider selling the club to people capable of the sort of financial backing necessary to retain and attract good players and staff.Peter Jones has referred to this many times.
By the time they had lost Holloway and his team, panic was setting in but they still chose to stay involved and go the property development route, as well as supporting Luggy in some poor decision making. The club had just had the heart ripped out of it playing wise and the whole country knew we were a small time selling club.
Every time this club is on the verge of the big time we bottle it.
Come on you Greens !

Your 'e as naive as P S, if you think the anger's just fuelled by 'Internet warriors' with 'over-inflated morals'. Of course P S's entitled to a family holiday, but to take it at this time / during the season, is a joke.
