Posty, your faith in Mr brent may be ewell placed or it may be he is the best of the available options.

In your previous post, you quote a recent piece by Mr Brent which includes ""A football club should be focused on being well financed and concentrated on football." I suspect this line gave you comfort, it did me initially, that here was someone who was right for Argyle; I can see why, on the face of it, it is attractive.

But if you pause and reflect it could be read to mean " Argyle should concerntrate on being a football club and live within its means. Argyle are not a property company and that is a distraction for them to involve themselves in the development of the site. I am a professional developer with expertise in the hotel industry and a growing flavour for leisure. I will give the football club generous terms to remain at HP as my tenant. In the circumstances I will place HP into a seperate company to make that development a reality and compensate the football club with sufficient funds for them to be well financed"

Ofcourse, he may think it better to keep the ground and any developments as part of the Club.

Fingers crossed eh?

James Brent is obviously no mug and he has connections with the region & the city. It may be that he will have property interests, but Argyle may have to develop the ground/infrastructure to survive. Norwich have numerous restaurants/bars and a hotel at the ground and it seems to work perfectly well. But what we all want is somebody to put the team first and foremost before the re-development of Home Park. I guess the jury is out on whether that will happen.

I think we all have to accept property development will be the only attraction to our club. We're too far in debt for football alone. If we can accept this then we can try our best to work with the property developers (James Brent or whoever), transparency is key. So long as the property developer (James Brent or whoever) doesn't fleece the club out of its earnings, we shouldn't be any worse off than the board who took over from MaCauley?

As I said NG, fingers crossed. I think the day I hear an owner starting to build a new training complex and an Academy I will perk up my ears and know they are probably genuine. Not that these are over night desires but they are indicators of where owners want us to be and their committment to getting there.

It's not just the debt but the current running costs. It is that bad.
