I think this is the crux of the argument. For me (And I appreciate everything Smiffy is saying) but it would never be the same, and I think there are many who feel the same.
As I mentioned in another thread, could you really expect a large number of the fanbase to travel (600 mile round trip for London based fans) to watch Southern League football? Even those who live in Cornwall, I think would be put off.
Plus, the running costs of Home Park would still prove a massive obstruction, for any newly formed club. Argyle struggle to pay them now with crowds of 8k
Maybe a time for a poll, on who would and would not go if Argyle were liquidated and a new club formed?
Thing is it wouldn't mean anything though, it's all if's and but's and the vast majority would vote no because, like me, they don't want the present chapter to end and are hoping for some kind of supportable entity to come out of the administration process. A massive majority voting no might suggest there would be little or no interest if we were liquidated, whereas it's the poll on the night the gates get locked and we GET liquidated that would be more representative...........when the if's and but's become oh sh1t's and oh f**k's

Home Park has running costs obviously but it's the running costs of the squad that have crippled us. Without that, without policing costs (non-league football matches are not designated football matches) and with a benevolent PCC rent deferral agreement (they'd need Argyle in there too don't forget) it can be done.
Gates would drop, I don't deny that, some refusniks will dig their heels in and claim distinctions exist (distinctions I don't agree with at all but there you go) but if you've ever been to an AFC Wimbledon game you'd know just what a refreshing atmosphere and positive force exists when big support travels to little grounds. We'd wipe the floor with opposition once established so games become fun, become social events, beer able to be drunk in view of the pitch, fans able to mingle and allelluya, you can STAND. Exiles will become very much part of the picture because almost every away game will be a 'home' game (both in terms of distance AND the fact we'd take over the ground).
People just seem to find it easier to dismiss the concept than properly consider it. A poll won't help that as no-one is pushing for rebirth, no-one actually wants it to come to that. I just wish that people would stop drawing lines in the sand because if god forbid the end were to come that stubborn attitude will be no use whatsoever. Anyways this side issue is not on the table so shouldn't really be discussed on this thread, best leave it at that, just keep an open mind and stop looking for problems, anything can be overcome.
In Brent I trust
