I felt very optimistic when seeing the statement just after midnight. However after picking up the Herald a couple of things have dampened my mood:

Buttivant is still very much in the running with backing from Europe and the USA. He proposes to make a firm offer to administrators later this week.

Also - Former chiefs Keith Todd and Sir Roy Gardner, who have struck a deal in principle with Mr Brent over disputed mortgage debts, are also understood to remain in talks relating to a potential seperate bid.

I'm sure it won't be long before it's available online.

On that sad note I'm off for a well earned kip.

The fly in the ointment is the Mastpoint Mob - will they play ball?

Im glad someone pointed it out.

The creditors have still to be satifsfield. If, for example, they get offered 1p in the pound they may well just turn round and say no thanks.

So as I see it this is a statement of intent by this company. Yet, the biggest hurdle of all has yet to be overcome. Until the creditors and shareholders accept a deal I would hold the celebrations. As they hold all the cards. No deal, then basically no Plymouth Argyle.

This is a statement where someone has thrown their hat into the ring and given us some hope that someone can see a future with Argyle. It does not however in any way shape or form secure Argyle future because quite simply Maspoint could have an offer from Brent's company on the table and refuse it.

When I heard there was some real postive news I must admit I thought it meant a light at the end of the tunnel. Basically a deal struck. Unfortuately, we are no near concluding this mess because whilst its nice to hear that this company is interested it wont get anywhere near the club if the shareholders and creditors dont play ball.

Unfortuately, this statement only confirms what we kind of already knew. Brent was interested.

Seems like this is gonna drag on right to the end of the season with people play tactical games and giving tactical speeches to the media in their quest to get one over the other.

I still think a few twists and turns is yet to come.

I think what this really means is that a deal has been done with Mastpoint.

Some positive news :stout: Still feel we are a long way off from anyone actually taking over the club but at least it actually feels like we are going forwards now rather than just treading water

This long, bumpy ride may well be getting a tad smoother. All the negative news has been dragging me down. What a refreshing change for the morning check on PASOTI, to reveal that our beloved club could be saved.

In the light of the other reported interest in the reported interest in the purchase of the football club and in the light of some of the contributions already made I thought it appropriate to make further comment.

I, nor any otther ISC Trust members, have had any contact with Mr. Buttevant despite an offer, through The Herald, to discuss his plans for the club and the role supporters could play in its future. I understand, the The Herald, that his plans revolve around a significant redevelopment of the land around Home Park, including Council owned land.

The Trust have had no negotiations with the Akkeron Group although I have had two discussions (plus a request to stop sending e-mails to his Hotel Group website) with James Brent. Those discussions were more of an exchange of information so Mr. Brent could formalise his future ideas for the club.

Mr. Brent is reported in The Herald as saying that he will be "engaging deeply" with the Argyle Fans' Trust. and that"[They] have a major role to play in the future governance of the club."

A comment was made earlier about the wish that Akkeron would engage with a wider supporter's base than just the Trust. The very reason I was asked to put the Akkeron Group statement on Pasoti after the embargo was lifted was an attempt to do exactly that. As I have said before Mr. Brent does read Pasoti and as a result he is well aware of the passion and determination of the supporters to save the club. I think it is fair to say that he has influenced his judgement that "Plymouth Argyle is an institution well worth saving."

A new owner will only be confirmed when the CVA is confirmed and as a result the Football League agrees to pass the Football Share to the new company. Despite some matters still to be ironed out that could happen at or around the end of the season. Expect more announcements from the administrator by the end of the week on the process. Of course it is not over until it is over but at least today we can have half an eye at least on the future

Personally, I believe all the "speaking and listening to the fans" is all fluff.

There isn't a group which represents the views of Argyle fans - that is the core problem.

Have the Trust reached 500 memebers yet?

They'll be saying, "Run for the fans by the fans" soon!

They will all want to make a profit out of Argyle.

PJ as chairman doesn't inspire me either. There are some comments by him on the terraces regarding Sturrock that are unprofessional and completely unhelpful.

Really? That comes as a surprise to me. Especially as I have never posted on Terraces.

Edited to add - furthermore, I've always been very keen to assert that, whatever may have be claimed elsewhere, if there was one person who was responsible for "dragging Argyle up from the depths" ten years ago, that person was Paul Sturrock.

if Akkeron makes a successful offer for PAFC the Club will
be financially stable
be focused on providing quality football for its fans
be focused on living within its means while meeting all its obligations - to its staff, players and creditors - in a timely fashion.

Otherwise known as 'telling the fans what they want to hear'.

Brent does sound like the most sensible option for the club in its present parlous state, but if he does get the nod, I'll need to hear a lot more about his long-term plans, including the million dollar question we should be asking all prospective bidders: "What is your plan to break Plymouth Argyle through its glass ceiling?"

Because as far as I remember, Stapleton's Board met all three points on Brent's mission statement until we reached the Championship. They bumped their heads on that old glass ceiling and never recovered from it. I'd like to know what Brent - or Buttivant for that matter - has up his sleeve for the next time we reach the Championship; because it's been proven time and time again that an organic approach is guaranteed to end in relegation. If property development is the answer, then bring it on - because it's as clear as night and day that a significant and regular revenue stream to supplement our crowds is essential if we're ever to genuinely compete at that level.

If Brent takes over I'll be relieved and delighted that we've been saved, but pretty underwhelmed about the long-term future.
