There isn't a group which represents the views of Argyle fans - that is the core problem.

Have the Trust reached 500 memebers yet?

They'll be saying, "Run for the fans by the fans" soon!

They will all want to make a profit out of Argyle.

PJ as chairman doesn't inspire me either. There are some comments by him on the terraces regarding Sturrock that are unprofessional and completely unhelpful.

From Graham's initial post it seems that Mr. Brent is positioning himself as a failsafe, if a more football motivated saviour cannot be found. In itself that appears to be good news, as James Brent, from his communications, comes across as a measured individual, and am sure would strive to be a good owner of the club.

Having said that I am sure we are in for more roller coasting, as the weeks go by....especially as others have pointed out that mastpoint is the key :-(

I for one support Akkeron's involvement. Very few footbal clubs survive on the football alone. I believe that it James Brent's intention to make Akkeron the leading independently owned quality hotel chain. They have recently taken over the Moorland Links Hotel where my club meets regularly and we are impressed with professionlism of Akkeron. Many football grounds have hotels attached(eg Reading Sheff Utd) and it is not as if Plymouth is overly blessed with top quality hotels which in some ways holds the city back as a tourist and business centre. So lets hope the old lot accept reality and leave.

I'd say that was a fairly major sticking point to any deal.

Indeed. A sign of things to come under Mr Brent I fear.

In the Herald piece, Mr Brent states that he 'will not fund the administration process, nor pay for exclusivity'. Now I understand that, being the fall back option, not paying for exclusivity, but I'm confused about the administration process - if he (JB) doesn't pay for it, who does? I was under the impression that it is classed as a 'football debt'.

Edit to add: B*gger. Andy got there first.

The fact that the trust are in the know - do I take it there will be less leaks from within the club, tighter ship?

Surely this not paying for exclusivity means that Buttivant is actually in pole position to take over and not Brent. I find this whole process hard to understand, but surely the administrator is going to accept the offer which sees them getting paid?(I.e. Buttivant's offer) :?

That's the way I see it. Brent is stating that he is there as the alternative to liquidation. So if Buttivant makes a formal offer and is willing to pay for the exclusivity (AKA the Administrators wages) then I would assume he will have ticked all the correct boxes to be granted the exclusivity. If Buttivant does not do that this week then one also assumes he'll be told he is too late.

Perhaps the Brent statement was encouraged to give a "put up or shut up" to Buttivant???

True, but Guilfoyle has urged everyone to back the Akkeron bid -
'Akkeron's offer will provide a better solution to all Plymouth Argyle's stakeholders than liquidation.
Time is running out, and I would encourage everyone to engage with Akkeron in a constructive and timely manner to save Plymouth Argyle."

So, for some reason no funding does not now seem a problem for Guilfoyle.
On the second day after taking over as Administrator Guilfoyle said he had already met the new owner. That man is Brent.

I reckon Buttivant's Todd-style plans for Central Park will have the Council laughing themselves silly, just like when Heaney told them he wanted to build a cinema complex.

Isn't it amazing how all parties involved in this mess have all used the various supporters groups and the press (including this site) to put across their various messages. I'm afraid I can't look at any statement any more without wondering what's in it for the speaker or the leaker.

So Mr Brent wants us to believe he's the good guy, maybe he is. Mr Clark wants us to hope for Mr Brent - why? Perhaps he knows he's a good guy.

I suspect none of us really know - the proof of the pudding will be in the eating I guess. In the mean-time ... I trust (pun fully intended) no-one.
