That was my first thought too.

I actually don't see the problem with this - I see it as Ridsdale trying to get funding for the football side of things.

I'm getting a Nero's fiddling, Rome's Burning scenario here.

I agree with you.

I bet the staff wouldn't mind a flight to New York as it goes.

Ever conducted a meeting over Skype? With several people? Trying to show facts and figures and documents?

Then you'll know why Ridsdale has flew to New York.

I am sure in 2011 there are ways and means of conducting a meeting over the Internet. As had been said before any investors would surely want to see what they are buying in to so would it be too much to expect them to fly over to Plymouth at some point? If Internet communications are good enough for successful businesses it's sure as hell good enough for one of the worst.

Perhaps he's combined the trip with a "walking holiday" in New York!?

Er, yeah. You can send pdf files. This is to create a backup position, right?

Face to face sales pitches work a million times better than a phone conference.

There must be quite a few people that have told a gas/electric company to do one when they phone but when cornered in a city centre have signed up to a new tariff.

This would only be a preliminary meeting, if Ridsdale sells the club enough then they will be in Plymouth surveying what is actually on offer. Ridsdale will also by now be fully up to speed with what is need to pay the secured creditors, the football creditors, the administrator and more importantly for anyone that he speaks to.....what is allowed in the Area Action Plan around Home Park.

Can't believe what I'm reading. Ridsdale is actually being critiscised for flying to the States to seek investment for our club. Quite unbelievable.

And if some think that the use of the internet, or Skype to try and broker such deals is better than flying out to meet in person, then frankly, I worry about you.

I think these guy's in NY have been given the information about the club before, now PR has gone over to tell them the latest with the club and try to secure some backing from them.

I still think the M7 have had previous discussions with these people before so the NY people should have a decent amount of club background already, just the latest admin/sinking ship/debt CVA to put across to see what they will offer I feel.

I hope this option is exercised, i know nothing about the Americans but thats still more than I know about the Irish.

The best deal for Ridsdale is not necessarily the best deal for Argyle.

Face to face is of course better. The potential buyer should be doing the travelling in my opinion.

I mean if you won't get on a plane, are you really going to pay off all and sundry?
