What a strange thread. So many questions need answering, such as:

1) Ian, why were you lot there? Who tipped you off?
2) In what way does your encounter confirm Heaney as the preferred bidder?

Surely this is nothing more than a rumour at this stage, unless you know something we don't.

As a member of the Trust I'd like to know the rationale behind this 'ambush' especially given the Chair of the ISC was there.

The preferred bidders still could be an "Irish" / Gibraltar company but they could be tendering out all the donkey work of the new developments of Home Park to Heaney. The preferred bidders will be contracting work out & Heaney seems to already have stolen a march on getting this work with the aborted attempt to buy us in March. Heaney would have had plans for a development in place & knowledge of the Area Action Plan.

Guilfoyle stated that Heaney is unacceptable but he hasn't given us a reason. Maybe it is a simple as he's got shares in 2 football clubs? Maybe it's because he can't prove the funds? Maybe it's because he wouldn't pass the fit & proper person's test for another reason?

For what it is worth, I really hope it's not Heaney.

See the Guilfoyle meeting thread linked above.

So if Kevin Heaney sold his interest in Truro would he then become 'acceptable' and pass the fit and proper persons test???

How do we know he isn't in talks to sell he interest in Truro? Hence why he doesn't want to be named?

I'm afraid that BG has "form" in being economical with the truth.

Remember how carefully he chose his words at the CVA meeting, when he gave the impression that the exclusivity deal had been concluded (when in fact he'd signed it but the PB hadn't)?

In this case, the get-out is that under the administrator's cunning plan to win FL approval, Heaney will not own the football side of the business. That will have been hived off to Peter Ridsdale.

It doesn't look as though the League is buying it though. They've had their fingers burned by the likes of Leeds, Notts County, and Mansfield (before they were relegated to the Conference).

He has been in talks. Of course he may have been talking to himself. http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/Heaney- ... story.html

is the significance of his being here not the fact that the PB's are meeting with the council today or have i got my dates mixed up. If this is true than the credibility of the whole deal becomes non existant

The post from PL2 shows that no direct or indirect link is allowed.

Agree that it's easy to see why BG & PR hit it off so well though.

It was posted on here last night that the council keep an open diary system in their offices and there was an offer that someone could look up the info surrounding the PBs meeting with the council that was taking place today....perhaps the tip off was just passed to those four

If ian & co were tipped off that there was a meeting with the group and the council there this morning and he turned up en mass to find out then fine, but otherwise, why has bumping into KH in plymouth make him part of the bid??

Of course we don't know how big of a part Heaney is playing in the transaction....Graham Clark intimated on another thread a day or two ago a belief that Mr K Abe....who we will all remember had already provided money via Mastpoint to the club....was also involved in funding the takeover....allegedlly providing funds for the first milestone payment

I did ask about it but there was no response

It's the "no indirect link" part that would be critical in scuppering any plan to hand ownership of the football side of things to Peter Ridsdale ahead of buying it back at a later date once Truro City have been disposed of. I imagine that lawyers could argue for months (and at great expense) about what constitutes an indirect link in a case like this.

But is there another approach - could Truro City and Argyle be merged in some way to form one club with a youth/reserve side playing in the lower league based at Truro and the main side playing in the Football League? I guess not.
