It would appear that with the Football League tomorrow, and Cardiff Court next week(?), Plan A has a couple of mighty hurdles to jump, and the chances of it all going mammaries skyward are considerable, good luck to those behind plan B (The honest and honourable plan), and power to your elbows!

I hope I don't end up iritating anyone with my 'letter style' posts that I write sometimes, but I would really like to put this one up here on the thread, just incase Chris is too busy tomorrow to be able to pick up my e mail.

Dear Mr. Brent,

My name is Sue Pollard, an avid supporter of Plymouth Argyle F.C. and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, for agreeing to meet with Chris Webb, our acting Chairman of the Argyle Fans Trust and representatives of our supporters groups and various other people who will be in attendance too, in an attempt to put a ‘Plan B’ together should the current sale of agreement collapse.

I, myself, have only been a supporter of Plymouth Argyle for seven years, with this coming season ‘hopefully’ being my eighth consecutive year of attending Home Park. Prior to this, like yourself, I was never a football person, but when one of my sons once asked me if I could take them to see a match at Home Park, I saw this as something ‘different’ to do and from the experience I gained on that particular day, I have been ‘hooked’ on Plymouth Argyle ever since. There was something about the place, something about the passion you could see amongst the fans that instantly wanted me to be a part of it and as I have since found out for myself, once you have ‘green in your blood’, it’s very hard to let go of it.

As someone who has openly admitted you have never been a football person yourself, I have to admit that I am unsure of how it came to be that you showed an interest in our football club in the first place, but what I do know is that, I am extremely grateful you did and extremely grateful you have decided to follow every step of the administration period, keeping a close eye on how things are developing.

In my honest opinion, right from the moment your name was mentioned as a potential bidder for our club, I instantly
believed you would be the very person our football club needs. You appear to be a very honest man. You have shown true professional mannerisms by calmly stepping aside whilst the preferred bidder business has been in hand, but at the same time, you have stayed true to your word by keeping an eye on our situation and offering to return to help once more, should the occasion rise.

Compared to the characteristics of our old board members, it is so refreshing to see someone of your own stance, wanting to be involved with us and to me, ‘honesty’ is what our club needs to see, to take it forward in leaps and bounds. I am 100% behind the fact that in order to rebuild our ship once more, we need to do so in a manner that sees our club living within its means. To me, it doesn’t matter how many years it would take to see us get back into a position of where this club ought to be, it’s how the football club is run, financially, that will reap it’s rewards in the end. With patience, our club will rise once more.

The mere fact you have listened out for our football results last season, have read the ebook messages of our supporters saying ‘thanks’ to all concerned who have kept the club in existence thus far and posts that people have been writing on our chat forum, pasoti and so forth, these are but a few things that is telling me that, not only have you kept an eye on the business end of the football club, but you have also kept up to date with looking at things from our supporters prospective too and witnessed for yourself the undying passion we have for our club. This is another reason that makes me believe you would be the very person our club needs. Your willingness to listen to the supporters and to have them get involved in whatever way we could, would serve greatly amongst the fan base hugely respecting this.

The despondency, compared to that of the unity we had amongst ourselves during these past months, has been a sad sight to witness. Unfortunately, with all the uncertainties throughout the administration period, it is non the wonder our supporters have divided opinions now. We have all been driven to despair. But I feel I can speak on behalf of most of our supporters when I say, that should the current deal collapse and there is the possibility that you will become our new owner, you would end up seeing such an increase of morale being lifted once again, that the speed would shock you on how our supporters will instantly convert back into feeling a sense of positivity again and the season ticket sales would rapidly rise.

Not only this, we have managed to build some very good supporters groups during this period of time. Good people, who have worked endlessly together in order to help in any which way we could, to save our club. People who are committed to the cause and always would be and, especially with having the Green Taverners around, there are many ideas they would love to introduce to the club which would serve to be of huge benefit, in taking this club forward and building a good feel factor amongst the supporters again.

I should probably end this letter soon before it becomes too long, but in essence, I can not thank you enough for being involved in the meeting tomorrow. You would be such a great asset for our club to have and I honestly believe, because of your own beliefs on how we should handle the running of our club in future, you would be the right person to implement the beginning of good things to come.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I wish everyone good luck for tomorrow

I echo the sentiments of the vast majority of the supporters in wishing you every success on Friday. It's been a very bumpy ride and I am sure it will get even bumpier before we get to a conclusion of this whole sorry mess.

Chris has rather well laid out the proposition that this is Plan B and only to be enacted if Plan A fails. Plan B is all about James Brent riding over the horizon IF Heaney fails to deliver.

It is not an alternative to Plan A because he wasnt that committed to buying Argyle. If he was we wouldnt be in the apparent mess many believe we are currently in. He made it very clear he would not finance the club, including paying the staff, whilst deciding if he wished to proceed. He would not pay the exclusivity payments nor pay that much to those Argyle oweed.

Against that backdrop, Heaney is now in pole position and will probably get the freeholds and pass off the club to the Riddler. The time to gee up Brent was some months ago and persuade him to go a step further. he didnt want to and so we are where we are.

Like wise Viv P cant be seen to come out and say "PCC will buy HP, which is why she hasnt.

We are where we are for very good reasons. 2/3 pretty awful alternatives but the ginger one is heading for the tape first and the Riddler is still smiling.

Relax, the contest is over, now you only have to decide if you wish to actively support Argyle or not.

Even if Plan A does get over the finishing line to take Argyle out of administration it is only a battle lost. There is a long way to go yet. With more and more evidence coming to light every week of collusion it will only be time before there is enough to report BG to the parliamentary commisionair for malicious admindistration. As a government appointed rep he falls under their auspice. The second point is that any finance etc they have had to raise to get this far is going to come at a very high price with either interest rates or investors wanting a quick return. They still have to get over the covenants and planning permission. That is another battle that we can have a very big say in with objections. After excluding one of the party from plan b because of obvious reasons the persons within it on the whole have got to be ready to put in a concerted plan of action. They have also got to be ready to be in a postion to purchase the development side off BIS for the price the land is valued at not the price they are having to pay. After all they have already sold off the footballing side of the deal for one pound.

Good luck, let's hope the Plan B is a truly viable alternative and ready to go at very short notice...

If Plan B made it to reality I think many Argyle fans, myself included, would do everything to back it to the best of their allowances, it's the only viable option in the long run. I've had it withthe secret shenannigans and lack of transparency, that lot can get bent!

Hope you all have a good meeting today.
Hope things all fall into place for plan B.

Tony, you really are extremely patronising, and you appear to believe that all those engaged in the Plan B initiative are entirely devoid of intelligence and insight.

There are very good reasons to be deeply concerned about the "Irish" Bid, and its potential impact on Argyle. Not least the bizarre process that the Leeds group have pursued.

Furthermore, the obsessive secrecy surrounding this Bid and the administrator's willingness to lie repeatedly in order to protect is an issue that even Yates of the Yard may feel compelled to investigate in a parallel world.

Plan B is not about that, however.

Plan B is about preparing a backstop should Plan A fail.

And it could well fail.

First, Heaney may not be able to come up with the money. Why? Because of the lack of certainty that planning permission for his scheme for the park will be granted. Plus the time it could take to go through.

It is already known that one of his key investors has walked away.

Second, because the FL may not buy into the paper-thin, translucent Chinese Walls being erected to create the illusion that Heaney has no interest in the club.

Third, because of the "fit and proper persons test". Both Ridsdale and Heaney have liquidated companies in the last three years, leaving trails of debt unpaid. In Ridsale's case, over a third of a milion pounds to the taxpayer (you and me). At least one of those liquidations is still under investigation.

Fourth, because of what is happening at Cardiff Crown Court in a couple of weeks. Sorry, but I don't think that anyone can guarantee that Mr Ridsdale will be found "not guilty". For all of his bragadaccio, the chance remains that the CPS have a case.

So - we're not out of the woods yet. By any means. And the season starts in just over three weeks time.

Surely it would be irresponsible for there not to be a Plan B in place?

And if the administrator isn't prepared to put in the work (despite his eye-watering fees), others have to step up to the plate.

Thank you Peter for the above post explaining WHY this meeting is taking place, I also felt Tony was a tad patronising in his 'post', however your reply Peter fully explains why this meeting is taking place and why it is so important to have this 'back-up' plan. Well done for putting it so well and it mirrors my concerns exactly. As I said y/day,good luck to Chris and all others attending later, this is vital work appreciated by the majority on here.( I.M.H.O. )
