Buy time for Brent

Just thinking aloud here.

If the BIL deals falls through, the issue for Guilfoyle to keep the club going is that he needs money very quickly to pay the staff and players in order to give Brent time to do a deal. But if Brent won't put up the money in advance, then we're finished.

So perhaps we and others can play a part in getting that money to buy Brent time. I know it's hundreds of thousand of pounds which we as Argyle supporters alone probably cannot muster, but there are many other people out there who could also contribute. Perhaps the Trust could set up a fund and we all launch a national campaign all over the national media, twitter, facebook etc to raise the money from football supporters all over the country. Perhaps we could also target premiership footballers with an opportunity to help save a club and put some of their astronomical earnings back into the grass roots of the game. Some Premiership footballers just might jump at the opportunity to put themselves in a good light. It would have to be a viral campaign within a very short period but perhaps it can be done.

I think the word 'nasty' covers it LMP. Very sad post.

So which creditors stand to lose the most in the event of liquidation when the BIL bid collapses?

They should be the ones also putting pressure on Brenda to pick up the phone to Brent.

Good idea. Even in the days before facebook and twiddle i can remember the whole land being implored to dig deep for Brighton (now look at them)

Back at one of the early meetings with Guilfoyle at the Guildhall a fan stood up and criticised Guilfoyle for making a joke about the situation, Guilfoyle apologised but the fan continued and said a joke shouldn't be made about the staff not getting paid, he swore and walked out of the room.

We all tut-tutted and were embarrassed.

But that fan had it spot on! He was right and we were wrong, we just didn't know at that time.

Guilfoyle holds all of us in disdain Ian. He doesn't give a damn.

As if!! :banghead: Still, a good idea and worth trying. What have we got to lose at this point?

Well I'd imagine that they are the ones who stand to gain most from the BIL deal completing - i.e. members of the previous Board and their pals. So, as I pointed out in my thread yesterday, if Keith Todd really is/was an Argyle fan then there's still something he can do to show his support...

Well the sickening thing of course is that the first-team squad at Manchester City could probably buy the club outright with just a month of their combined wages.

Edited to add: Wrong thread :?

Several times over, I suspect. It is also an important point as, irrespective of those locally to blame, football should never have allowed this to happen.

As billy bragg almost used to put on the cover of his albums:

'capitalism is killing football'.

I imagine Todd would find it difficult to live with himself if he did any more to jeopardise his bank balance.

I watched Sky Sports News last night to see if we got a mention (pah!) and there was this smug twot gleefully announcing that the Prem clubs had so far spent just under £360M in this transfer window alone so far, as if it was something to be celebrated. TOSSERS, the lot of them! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Remember, Todd was one of the seven, that sat on their fat arses, being fed and watered by staff they weren't paying.

Its an absolute travesty that Mastpoint held out to get all of their money back....and that it had to be agreed to to get the CVA through....not least with two Argyle fans....Todd and David Rowe....involved

It was always nice to know that the fruit of suroys loins would also get their money back

Even now Mastpoint should things go belly up could accept a settlement that help smooth the way forward....what if they approached the contigency plan and waived their full pay back....they could do it if they wanted the club to survive
