Totally agree with that, every great manager starts somewhere and I am fully behind Carl Fletcher

Positives

Passion
Playing experience
They know the club
They must have players' respect

Negative

No managerial experience

Whilst I like the idea of Fletch and Larrieu's appointment, and it's potentially one that could be in place for a long time, should all things go well. However, I am slightly concerned that they have no managerial experience. I do believe though, that they have the collective ingredients to get an extra couple of % out of the players; new managers generally do, at least for a game or two.

Momentum is everything, and will increase significantly with a win. I'm certainly behind them, even if I don't think it's the perfect appointment. That said, we're in no position to be picky.

Good luck gents!

So according to charlee appointing our best player, a great gent, a legend to the club and a player who wants to be involved in management secures relegation then? Hmmm, and even if relegation does come why is it secured by this, by the way things were going we were down anyway

Hi cobi, can you explain how you're judging fletchers tactical ability please? Also think he has somethink to prove re motivating others too. If may be great, if may be mariner mk2.
Thats "Mr" Womble to you

Simply not true Tynan. Romain is the most passionate player in the team. He would bleed for Argyle. His attendances at our supporters meetings demonstrate that. He is moulded in the Sturrock - work hard, keep shape, keep discipline approach.

A classic good cop / bad cop.

Exactly. You can still motivate players without giving the hairdryer treatment. Different players respond to different approaches.

I don't doubt his passion for one second, but will he be a better manager than Reid?

I don't think so but I'd love to be proved wrong.

from a complete neutral point of view, personally I would say it was a bad choice as he has no managerial experience, but for some reason I can really see this being a great move. Player caretaker manager can really impact the play and sub himself on. I find it interesting as him being caretaker manager could effect his first team appearances?

Also if him being caretaker manager doesn't work out, will be owed compensation if he is "demoted" from caretaker?

So let's be clear - Fletch and Ro will get my 100% support. I will not criticise people giving their every efforts in these circumstances. I did not with Reid, despite our form, and I will not with them. However, I am not convinced. I live near Hereford and have a few HUFC friends, all of whom are regretting Pitman's appointment. It's hard to go from the bootroom to the boardroom in a flash and I think a current, or recent player, taking up the reins has its downsides. Mariner didn't work for us as a former player, and goodwill alone will not propel us up the league. Nous, tactical know-how, guile, man management skills and decent contacts will do so. In short, some proven experience. I may be wrong, I hope I am. I hope they excel and if he gets it permanently, it turns out to be the best bit of business ever. But I'm just not convinced.

Very disappointed I'm afraid. Fletcher and Larrieu were the ones threatening to strike and now they are best buddies with Risdale.

There is a very limited team choice and I Just feel the pair are two faced. Has the wages situation changed for them?

Reid was treated appallingly and these two were involved in the dismissal after all that Reid had done for them

Big big let down

He gave quite a cold and evasive answer when posed the question "How close to Peter Reid were you?".

Further evidence perhaps of a strained relationship between PR and the players.

I think the Fletcher/Larrieu combo has a lot of potential. We need an experienced striker in ASAP.

Fine as an interim measure and they have my full support.

Long term, no. Player managers do not work in the majority of cases. We need some experience in there, maybe working with the aforementioned Fletch and Ro.
