Maybe Sturrock was partly to blame for the mess a few years ago.
But he hasn't messed up Southend.
Maybe what he's done for us he can do for you.

Ridsdale loves having a profile. Does anyone think he'll honestly stay here that long? He sees himself at a higher level than this. Transititional appointment, someone who knows a bit about football, but has no real power.

What a total absence of perspective and proportion! When you hate an individual more than you love the club, well. I'd say you'd got some serious problems!

You'd be right..............if only what you said was true.
Ridsdale as OWNER, with a private property developer landlord (Heaney) - yes, i'd stand by that position.
But Ridsdale "allowed to retain a role in the club", not at all. If you don't have a life and fancy trawling the threads from the last few months you'd see, clearly and consistently that i've always accepted that he'd be a a good salaried football CEO. It's when he has a hand in the coffers, when he's got FULL control that he becomes a fatal liability.
So owner?, over my clubs dead body.
Employee?, I can lump it without liking it.
Hope that clears it up for you, I irritate enough people with my own comments thank you, I don't need misrepresentation too.

If you re-read my post a little more carefully it should hopefully become clear that what I said to your post was "fair enough" and that I had no issue with your views. I was referring to a completely different poster on the thread when I spoke of someone who hated Ridsdale so much they would prefer to see the club liquidated than see him retain a role in the club... which was precisely what they said!
If you check back on the thread, you will see that person has now admitted they posted "with drink taken" (to use a lovely Irish expression) and they withdrew the comment and apologised. So alls well there!
You might well be right with your views on Ridsdale as a salaried employee. Whether he remains content with such a role long term is another matter altogether.
Graham Clark wrote: Circumstances ahve dicated that I have been closer to Peter Ridsdale during this extraordinary perion in the club's history than most. For much of that time he challenged my thoughts as to what is right and proper for this football club and like many others I am very relieved that he is not in sole control of the destiny of our club. That he isn't is tribute to the marshalled forces of our great and unified supporter base and the sacrices of the staff and players.
That he has a continued role in the immediate future of the football club will be uncomfortable to some. However, we are in a 'needs must' position. We have three or so weeks before the loan window closes and with only three loanee places available to us we need to be sure that we recruit the best available within our new financial resources. Peter Ridsdale is a persuasive operator and I do accept that right at this moment he is probably better placed to recruit the best available than anyone in his self created role as Chairman of Football Operations. The same applies to any out of contract players.
Being closer than many to what has gone on over the last year or so I have witnessed events and been privy to conversations that have left me deeply uncomfortable. Whilst we rightly continue to bask in the justified euphoria of the fact that this club was rescued against the odds we equally need to have a concentration on the immediate needs of the club and the importance of having a proper corporate governance structure and clear lines of responsibility.
A concern that I have is that the title of Chairman of Football Operations is one unknown and unparalleled in football circles. I undertand the word 'Chairman' was incorporated at Peter Ridsdale's insistence. I am very grateful that we appear to have a hardball Financial Director in control of the purse strings which will curtail any expansive activities of the newly created Football Operatins role. That is reassuring. What I will observe with interest and from a distance, is whether the 'Chairman' title will give an opportunity for Peter Ridsdale to expand his field oinoperations into other areas in this important and embryonic period of Green Pilgrim. Many have fought long and hard for this club to survive and the best of them has stood down today. Don't think, Peter, it will give you a free reign to mould the club as you think fit because it won't you can be sure of that.

The notion that Ridsdale would have been part of Brent's set-up if Brent had been picked as the original preferred bidder is not merely my "viewpoint". It is an assumption shared by colleagues who have been spent far more time than I have in Argyle's "corridors of power" over the past year.
However, Brent was not picked, and, like the rest of us, Ridsdale had to adjust to what Guilfoyle had done. Things got messy. But, before Bishop International got the nod, Ridsdale had been talking with Brent. That isn't just an opinion.

Many seized on this as an excuse for not buying an ST. Now it is shown to be true they are finding some other imagined Ridsdale excuse for not buying one.
