Sad to hear this news, but as I said in another thread - as John Milton (not a footballer) once said, 'a short retirement urges a sweet return'.

Thank you Chris, for your outstanding efforts, contributing, in no small part, to ending the ongoing nightmare that has blighted Argyle's history.

You must be very proud of your achievements. With people of your calibre, Argyle was never going to fold.

Thank you again from afar.

Peter.

I'm a DHS old boy who is 33 now and living and working in Sydney, married to a DHS girls girl.

I've lived here for 12 years.

I'm a daily follower of PASOTI (much to my wife's annoyance) and a big argyle fan. I can't tell you how grateful I am for all of the work that you and all of the other fans (IJN, Peggy etc etc) have put in behind the scenes to save my football club.

Football is rotten to the core these days and it seems you have had to deal with a lot of fairly grubby people.

Despite all of that, you have shone and made me proud to be an argyle fan.

I was back over the summer in Plymouth on holiday and took myself and my 1 year old boy to the Pavillions to the trust meeting. I looked like an idiot with the only baby and pushchair there. After your speech, there was a long rousing round of applause. I looked down, to see my little man (wearing his argyle bibby) watching the applause, look up at me, smile and clap for the first time in his little life.

A lovely moment for me but a moment that made me realise that Argyle will never die. Not if committed and passionate people like yourself have anything to do with it.

Thank you for everything. I owe you a pint!

Another in foreign parts who has admired your monumental efforts on a daily basis. It doesn't matter where you are or what you are doing, when you have green blood you just have to know how our team is doing on a match day. Not always there in person but always in spirit. Without you and a small band of brothers all that would have been taken away from us all. Many thanks.

Well done Chris, and thank you.

The right man at the right time.

It's been inspirational, largely due to your leadership.

It's been emotional, and during those times you kept your head, and led us, steadied us, and ensured that we won.

From this generation and the next.

Thank you Chris!

I don't mind admitting to being very concerned when Graham stepped down as leader of the Trust, as I regarded him as level headed and a safe pair of hands. I didn't know the individuals involved or any politics that may have existed within the ISC.

But I very soon came to the conclusion that you were the right man for the job at the time. I always believed we (the fans) needed to be more aggressive/militant in our actions or we were going to be walked all over. You found the right balance and despite my view at the time that we should have been calling Heaney out  you actually made the right call and played a blinder.

We were very lucky to have an experienced union man prepared to take the fight to the suits. I totally understand that you feel you had a job to do and that it is now done and others need to carry the Trust forward. Difficult times need fearless and firm leadership. You provided that and I salute you for it. I did awkwardly shake your hand outside the box office before the Stanley game. I hope that despite my shyness you realised how heartfelt it was. Thankyou again to you, and your mates IJN, GTs, Postey PJ, GC etc, and all who did their bit when they were neeeded.

My brother said you looked like you would do a good job when he first saw you at the initial trust meeting and he was right. You don't know him or me but from us both and from the rest of my family, THANK YOU for helping to organise saving the club. YOu won't be forgotten and i hope you end up involved with the club moving forward as you are clearly an asset. Well done and enjoy your break. Get back involved soon,
Cheers
