Interesting one, could be a bit of a gamble.

This probably means we won't see Flrtch in a green shirt much more, I feel we need him.

They have my full support either way.

Tin hat time, but everyone else seems to be sitting on the fence.

This is a TERRIBLE idea.

What we've done is the equivalent of appointing an unknown manager with no experience and giving our best player a free transfer at the same time.

We need someone who can get us scrapping at the bottom. Who knows tactically what it takes and has experience in this situation.

If we can get in an eperienced number two which allows Fletch to play then fair enough. But I'd much rather have an old fashioned gaffer here with experience and footballing contacts.

I've slowly come to the conclusion that maybe this is what we need.

Grit, determination and a manager that's been through exactly what the players have been through.

He's hungry and desperate to succeed and has the players playing to there maximum for him and let's be fair, he knows what goes on on the pitch and experiance like this is priceless.

Some will see it as a mistake, others will see it as a cost cutting choice. I'm willing to see where we are in January and having a short contract (rolling month?) it's not that much of a gamble if things do go sour.

Fletch.. This is your moment. Good luck. :huddle: :scarf:

A gamble for sure, we need a minimum of 38 to 40 points probably from 30 games to stay in the league. With the addition of 4 to 5 experienced heads, big centre back, big centre forward, another striker and a creative midfielder or right back this ought to be possible still. The decision has been taken so good luck Fletch, you have my total support and prove me wrong by being a roaring success.

Not a good idea, would have prefered Fletch working alongside an experienced manager for a couple of seasons to learn the ropes. This is not a good time for an apprentice, but still i hope it goes well for him, fingers crossed.
At least we got a drummer !!!

What has he been doing since he was here ?

Sturrock = Experienced
Reid = Experienced

and previosly Warnock = Experienced

Does that not count ?

Although I don't think keeping Fletcher as manager without an experienced assistant is the best way to get out of our situation I think the highlighed bit is unfair. He's not unknown to the young team he is leading, who quite clearly hold him in high regard.

Still feel he needs someone to take care of the tactical side of things as well as freeing him up to actually play in matches if we are going to stay up this year.

Good luck Fletch; you're gonna need it!

:D

The fact we would have 18 points if the games stopped at half-time suggests we're being out thought by too many managers. Also suggests our players are too tired but that's definitely something to blame the Magnificent Seven/PandA for; we simply do not have the strength in depth atm, and won't until we can bring in a few players.

Yes, players not managers.

I wonder how many of those managers would have done with the shame team???

I'm a little nervious, but so far he's done alright so Fletch gets my full support.

Bringing in the right mix of players with the limited budget and options we have will be a real test for him.

Also I think an experienced coach to assist and make dugout decisions when Fletch and Ro are playing is key, is Sadler still around?

Completely happy with the appointment of Fletch. Would like to see a Director of Football type figure though to help him out and a full-time assistant, rather than a player-coach.
