Im sure the same thing was said about;

Eddie Howe at Bournemouth
and
Steve Tilson at Southend

Both clubs were in or just come out of finacially troubled times with virtually a youth squad to field and both worked wonders at their clubs turning from players to caretaker managers to full time managers.

Have faith people and give him time, no kneejerk reactions.

Exactly, I agree with this - every manager was new to the job once.

And anyway, what is the yardstick for success? Keeping us out of the bottom two, I would have thought.
Under normal circumstances any new manager would like the relatively meagre "challenge" of keeping his side out of the bottom two of the bottom league.

HOWEVER, that doesn't mean we can't reassess in January - we don't want to run the risk of going down again.

Nor should it mean that Fletcher can now feel free to not pick himself. If he had made a precondition of taking on the role "not picking myself" I hope Brent/Ridsdale would have thought twice about appointing him. His still rather large salary was originally negotiated on the basis of his playing ability.

The preconditions as discussed during all the interviews Riddler did of managerial candidates. Hang on...

I believe it to be a monumental mistake.

Both are the best we have in their position but now won't wish to play regularly.

They have no experience

They have no contacts (How can they, recently being players, who don't interact with other managers?)

They have poor players to work with

They have no charisma to attract new players.

Obviousy I hope I am wrong big time........................ but sadly I doubt it.

I'll be getting right behind Carl and Romain....... but........ Has anyone noticed that our recent 'improved' form now shows a run of three defeats?
At least it's only Morecambe this Saturday - easy three points.
What's that?
They're in third?
Oh crap

I did look it up a week ago and without checking again, including Morecambe we will have played about 11 of the top 13 and only a few of the bottom 11 to date. That is a crumb of comfort and indicates we have had a pretty tough start to the season the way the league table has panned out.
